When trying to respond, open, check status etc of a return on the app I am logged out of my account or given the “something went wrong” message. Been going on for a few weeks now. Makes it impossible to handle returns & formulate responses without going to a computer & doing it there.

Are you signed in to the correct eBay account using the app to process that return? If not, that can cause such issues.
Otherwise, open a mobile browser, sign in to the correct account and process the return using your browser.
