Someone using my email address to create an account

I could not figure out how to remove my email address from that account. I called Customer Service and they said they would report it for me but could not do anything about it. I asked why there is no email verification when associating an email, and the CS person did not have an answer for me.

I found this discussion, but it seems to no longer work. I apparently need the phone number and text code to access the account.

Please HELP. I don't want someone to use my email address in that account to sell fake thing and ended up eBay thought I did that.

Hi @inkt - that's a very difficult situation, sorry to hear that it's happened. If this is a situation where another member has used your email address to create a new account, I strongly recommend contacting our customer support team via social media (Twitter or Facebook). Let them know your email address has been stolen and they can work on helping you recover it. 

If this is instead a situation where your account has had its email address changed to a different one you will want to contact the Account Security team by phone and let them know that you feel your account has been compromised. Thanks!

No, it still works with just the email. I just tried it and got this which still has the option to reset the password via an email message:

I'm on a laptop; perhaps this doesn't work if you're trying to do it on a phone or other gadget.

If you can't get satisfaction through customer support, then just change the password, take over the account and close it.

I tried the close account link again and accidentally "closed" my own account. I quickly contacted eBay about it, and this time the Trust and Safety team not only reinstate my account but they confirmed I own that email address and be able to remove it from the fraudulent account.
