Shipping label orientation wrong

I use 8.5" x 11" shipping labels, 2 per page that I can peel and stick when printed....all of a sudden today, instead of the labels printing sideways as they have always done, they now print vertically which means the adhesive labels I used are now useless....I did not change any settings on the computer or printer....just all of a sudden they started having wrong orientation...Can someone please help me fix this issue??? I am a senior and not computer literate...any instructions you can provide would be much appreciated....Thanks for any help

@privateroad   You don't see the orientation option, because you are not opening the label with Adobe.  What browser are you using?

Both those browsers especially Chrome sometimes reset to their built in reader when an update occurs, which recently did affecting many users.  You need to either change the browser's settings back to open PDF files with Adobe or open/install Adobe as your default reader, which should up date the browser automatically.

This is happening to me as well. I don't think this anything to do with adobe guys. It happens in chrome firefox and edge. And it worked fine 2 days ago.

@zao54  Post a screen shot of your Adobe label preview.  Or if you want to test this, don't print the label, but save it to a PDF file, then manually open the file with Adobe and try to print it.

I have tried this label format on Chrome, FIrefox, and Edge, and when the settings are correct and Adobe is used it prints correctly as it always did.  If this was ebay system wide glitch nobody would be able to print the label correctly.

that's not so...most of the glitches happen to some sellers and not all. I don't know that i've ever seen a glitch that is site-wide...even when ebay is down.

@privateroad

Let me rephrase, there appears to be no widespread problem, as only a handful of users are reporting the problem.  Yes, it could be a glitch, but this is not a new problem and in the past those that had it found it to be on their end.

The solution was always either the ebay format had gotten changed from the half sheet PDF label, or their browsers had reverted to using its built in reader, or in some cases the browser's page setup had been changed and not reset.   All these possibilities are easier to check for than trying to get ebay on the phone.

The orientation option you say Chrome and Edge do not show any more, are not browser options, but are PDF reader options and dependent on the reader used to open the file.

If you want to try to get your label printing again, first just recheck the ebay label format is still set to the half sheet PDF, and not the 4"x6" vertical label printer format.  Next check that the label preview window is that of Adobe and not the browser's internal reader.  Lastly, just open the browser page setup and check the size, scale, margins, etc., are correct.

the label page doesn't even offer those options anymore...i would have no problem re-setting if the options were still there...but they're gone!

Those options as not a function of ebay, they are a function of the reader you are using to open the PDF file.  When the file is opened with Adobe you will see those options again.

Both Chrome and Edge are notorious for cancelling Adobe and reverting back to their built in reader.

If you want to test this before fooling with your browser, save the label to PDF rather than print it.  Then manually open the file with Adobe.  If it is the proper half sheet format, and your printer page size is correct, the preview will show the sheet outline, label, and the options to properly orientate and print the label correctly.

@elisasbargains  Since different browsers are still showing it vertical, and if you are using Adobe, the cause likely is the ebay format is set to the vertical 4"x6" label printer format instead of the half sheet laser/inkjet format.  So you will want to check that.

On the create label page look for the current label format, usually at the lower right.  Click on CHANGE if not correct.

i was just able to print a label correctly again! Ebay has set the vertical as default apparently. In the 'more settings' choose '2 pages per sheet' and then at 'scale' open 'custom' and set size to 'fit to printable area'. I printed at 100% but i might go to 95% next time...not a big deal. If you click 'default' it goes back to the little vertical label. Hope this helps everyone who is dealing with this label glitch.

Same problem here - printing vertical and so close to the left edge of the page that the left border of the label is outside the minimum margins of the printer, and the left border is thus missing when printed.

@privateroad  Glad you found a work around, but you shouldn't have to be doing that, if you use Adobe.

Another test you can do from the create label page, is to click on CHANGE next to the label format shown at the very bottom right of the page.  Here you can open a sample preview of the label.  It should be horizontal in Adobe.

I just tired the above, with and without your workaround, in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and labels were horizontal when opened with Adobe.
