Recently discovered that my "Saved Searches" are reverting to listings in ALL categories rather than the specific category I saved. "Photographic Images" under "Collectibles", for instance. (CDVs, cabinet cards, etc). Have been using Chrome and switched to Firefox - doesn't matter. The issue is an internal Ebay problem.

I'm having this problem too. Now I'm getting emails from every search, even where nothing is found, full of items that have absolutely nothing to do with what I'm looking for. It's a huge waste of time opening all these garbage emails!

Having the same problem. They appear to have messed with the searches filters and categories yet again. It's messing up my saved searches too.

The Fall 2021 Seller Update included changes to categories effective today. When they did the same thing back in the Spring it also broke saved searches.

Does anyone know if eBay will fix this? I have several hundred searches I run and fixing them all myself will be a huge pain....

Any and ALL searches aren't working, returning "all category" items for specific category searches, not just the eBay saved searches. Come on eBay, get 'em fixed!

As @valueaddedresource said earlier here, eBay changed the category structure recently.
If the category you had specified in your search no longer exists, or has been moved, then the search will default to all categories.
You will need to edit your saved searches or create new ones to fix this.

It's not just categories, it's also negative searches. I use a LOT of negative searching (-"box breaks" -"team breaks") as well as negating out certain sellers. This gets rid of all the GARBAGE listings I have no interest in and shows me what I'm actually looking for. When I think about something else I've noticed lately, namely there are about 1/5 of the listings I used to see, I realize it's Ebay's attempt to force you to see listings you don't want to. I've already left Ebay as a seller thanks to their RIDICULOUS fee schedule and managed payments, but if this continues I'll be leaving as a buyer as well. Who is running this **** show? Honestly, did a bunch of them short the stock and are purposely trying to run the company into the ground?
EBAY ---> fix this or I am gone!

Can you give an example link of a search that is not working for you, and describe what is not working? There may be steps you can take to make it work again.

This is my issue as well. I have searches for uncommon items and expect to get an email only when there is n exact hit. Now I’m getting junk Emil full of hundreds of search hits with no relation to my search. They may have one word match or almost match with a few letters different but no relation to what I’m looking for. This type of fuzzy algorithmic search for saved searches is useless.

Your issue regarding Saved Search emails specifically seems to have just recently started, and others have noticed the same problem.
See here for some discussion of this:

This has been a problem for many years. Saved searches start out working for a few weeks, then mysteriously stop working. Eventually few if any actually send the alert emails as they should. This has cost me a lot of rare items which I've waited months or years for. Many customers have complained about this over the years.

Ebay is no longer a company that cares about anything! All they want to do is make as much money as possible and the hell with their customers........ When I search for an item, they send me everything but the kitchen sink and some times I even get that! You can't get an ebay employee on the phone and if you do, they can't help resolve the problem......I use to love ebay when it first started and now i hate it.......Oh well, some things don't last forever............

Once or twice a week, my routine saved searches do not show up in my email each morning. This is frustrating because I might miss out on a new listing of interest to me. You are right that if you can reach eBay, the agent is of no help whatsoever.
