Follow up (if anyone cares, the "apology" noted it was appreciated that feed was provided here on tech issues?!)
Although I had never seen it work thus previously, it appears that the new promotion that I attempted to start the end of the month is updating on a regular (daily?) basis and adding items to the promotion. A lovely idea in theory, except for me, on the 4th (5 days after the previous promotion ended and I tried to start a new one) Items that were never selected by me to get a 30% discount suddenly got them! The original and copied promotion had the max number of variation on discount percentage. So far, only 30% has been randomly applied. Guess I should be grateful it wasn't the max 60%!
Also, "interesting" that the 14 days had not passed since these items were previously discounted (at a much lower amount).
Hopefully, someone is looking into this.
And, Beware, just because when you set up a promotion it isn't applied, it seems that may change without notice and it would seem in a random manner!! It does look like I managed to successfully end that promotion, and only with one sale with an unintended 30% discount.
I recommend that if you did attempt to begin a promotion that appeared not to work, that you ensure it is ended or you may be in for a surprise!
