Getting charged monthly on my credit card with "PLAN FEE - eBay O*22-1145" for $2.57 a month, for nothing? I'm not a seller, what gives? I called and they had no clue.

Hey kyle@ebay - I know you cannot speak to account specific issues, but this has come up on Community numerous times and so far I haven't seen an explanation, just advice for the buyer to contact customer service.
In this case the buyer already did contact customer service and was told they could not tell the OP what the charge was for. Maybe you can have that call reviewed for coaching. CS should always be able to tell a user why they were charged by eBay.
What is a monthly recurring "PLAN FEE" charge?
Just to confirm @Anonymous , this is a charge, not a credit? Did you purchase any items that had a payment plan as opposed to paying all at once? Did you review your purchase history page to check if this applies to a recent purchase?
Tagging a few others that posted about this problem in the past. Maybe they got answers and can weigh in. Can you provide info on what happened with your accounts @daisywin1 @philligan_0 ?

I have no idea but see someone else asked back in February with no reply. Might be able to ask that person if they ever figured it out?

Yes this is a charge, and not a credit, it is taking $2.57 a month for the last 6 months always on the same date (in my case the 16th) I've never sold anything on ebay, I don't have any listings, as I said briefly.

Yes, I read that earlier. What about the questions I asked such as, "Did you purchase any items that had a payment plan as opposed to paying all at once?"

The 22-1145 really looks like a truncated order ID.. missing the last part of it.
@Anonymous Can you go back to the month or month before that charge started happening and see if you have any orders that start with that order ID? Might be a breadcrumb to find it..

No payment plan, I made 1 fully paid purchase (which was my very first ebay purchase ever) the month before the plan fee charges started, but it was paid in 1 go in full. (Which i confirmed with customer support)

@Anonymous
Try going to this page by clicking the link, and see if you have any subscriptions shown there.
https://www.ebay.com/sub/manage
In years past, there were some eBay apps that could be charging a monthly fee. I haven't heard about anything like that recently, but it would be a good thing to check.
If you see any subscriptions there, post a screenshot so we can figure out what they are for.

Hey @wastingtime101 thanks for the tag. Buyers really shouldn't have any monthly recurring fee on their eBay accounts. @lacemaker3 had a good idea about it possibly being a 3rd party app, but even those were centered around selling.
As for tracking down a charge, CS can very easily see any charges related to a user's eBay account, especially if they aren't registered as a seller. So we can confidently say that this charge was not generated from the OP's account that was reviewed. Sadly, there is not the ability to reverse search from the info that was presented on the credit card statement.
As for the fee itself, in my 15 years here, I have never seen or heard of a "plan fee", and even the amount is not a charge I am familiar with. I've poured over all of our resources to track down more info on this, but have come up empty. So at this point, unless new information comes to light, I'm not even confident this charge is truly from eBay at all.

@Anonymous,
Did you pay through PayPal, or google pay or apple pay? Or directly with our credit card?
Either way, it's possible that the charge has been misclassified by the time it is showing up in your CC online statement.
I would check the details on PayPal/google/apple pay and see if that can provide any insight into where the charge is coming from.

@Anonymous All my eBay buying purchases show on my credit card as eBay O*##-#### etc. The PLAN FEE just feels like a payment plan or financing. The O* usually signifies an Online purchase.
I would contact your credit card company and ask them to see if their technical team can look in the actual files eBay is sending to see if that number (22-1145) is being truncated on your statement they're providing. I'm 85% sure that is the issue. There's usually multiple description lines in the files that are exchanged (generally speaking) and some institutions don't display them all or are limited on the number of characters or fields they can show.
If you can get the full order number, I think eBay could then look and see and why the charge is reoccurring.

Would seem to have nothing to do with this, since the poster is in US.........but Australia had/or has a buyer program of some kind that involves monthly fees, I think........

Yeah, I checked when the original poster first posted @dhbookds and made sure both buyer and seller were in the US before I replied, so none of those international factors should apply.
I hope @Anonymous will come back, read all these replies, and let us know what they find out after contacting their credit card company.

In my case, the answer to this "plan fee" 0*XX-xxxx mystery is I opted for a pay over time program with my credit card after the statement came in (not during purchase). The "plan fee" charge to my card is from my credit card company for using that program.
