Did you mean:

Open a new tab for every item viewed loses my position in my search list.

As a frequent buyer I am not a fan of the New Tab functionality in eBay.

When I am comparing products and prices, I want to be able to return to my search list at the point I selected an item to view so I can view the next item.

I realise that some people may like it but it is not for everybody including me.

This should be a Settings option not imposed globally by ebay.

Re: Open a new tab for every item viewed loses my position in my search list.

I'm not sure how the process is working for you, but when I run a search and come up with 200 listings in my results (just as an example), I click on the first one to open the listing and take a look at it. A new tab opens with the specific listing. When I'm done viewing it, I close that tab and return to the original search results tab, and it has remained right where I left it, whether I've opened a new tab for the first listing or the 50th listing or the 200th listing. My place in the original list is right where I left off.

What are you seeing happen to the original search results list?

Re: Open a new tab for every item viewed loses my position in my search list.

My suspicion is that many of the users experiencing problems with this new behavior are used to operating in a single tab, rather than opening and closing tabs as they go.

Previously they would go from search results, right click on an item title to open in the same tab, then use the back button to return to search results where they had left off.

Now right clicking on an item title in the search results opens the item in a new tab. From that item listing page, there is no active back button, but there is a "Back to search results" link in the upper left corner. Clicking on that reloads the entire search page (slowly) and leaves the user at the top of the page. After repeating this several times, the user is left with many different tabs at different points in the search results page.

Instead of using that "Back to search results" link, if those users closed the listing tab as you suggest, they would find themselves back at the search results page where they had previously left off.

Yes, but I have a "back" button on my mouse, which used to let me go back to the list without moving the mouse.  Now I have to move it to click to close the new tab....

That is how mine is working, and I like it. Goes right back where I was.

Very annoying issue!!  Constantly having to start back at the top of search results.

One would think eBay would make buying easy.  Nope.
