I sold an item today where the buyer requested UPS, which makes sense as the package is 31" long. I can't print a UPS label on eBay - all greyed out. Only option is USPS, which is outrageously expensive.

Just thinking out loud (I am not positive)
Did the buyer request after the purchase?
Was it offered in the initial listing as an option?
Is there are possible reason UPS service is not available to the buyer (i.e. ship-to address, location, etc....)
There must be a reason.....
You could always print the label at pirateship or another off-site ship provider.....

All types are shown for my listings, even though I only offer 1 type of shipping (USPS Priority) for the example item I just looked at; I could still ship UPS, Fedex etc.
Check that you are not just showing USPS right above shipping types available- or click 'UPS' and see what comes up

I’m just going direct to UPS for a label. I can click on UPS and FedEx at the top and the window opens up with all options greyed out. The buyer selected UPS. I’ve never had this issue before.

Unless you have a commercial account at UPS be aware you may have to pay retail....
Also, be aware there "must" be a reason UPS is not available for your shipping label....
I opined on a few reasons, another might be freight forwarding, PO or other type MailBox, no service to the locale of the buyer....90% of the time there is a reason that we just don't see.......

Did the buyer provide a PO Box address? UPS and FedEx don't ship to PO boxes.

You can go to UPS.com and buy a label or bring it to any UPS store.
But @lauraandseamus you will get better rates if you buy the UPS label through pirateship.com
