Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

Ebay no longer works properly in the latest Firefox.  Messages, specifically, no longer load. Links don't activate. Other parts of the site are broken as well. This has been happening for me for at least 2 days across multiple versions of firefox. This is affecting people other than myself as well.

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

It's not just Firefox. I tried responding to an item with a question on Chrome. Tried to send an answer and got the something went wrong blurb. Then went back and it said I can't reply to the question because it is over 90 days old!! The question was asked less than 24 hours ago.
Now for some good news. I see Google is showing ebay listings again. So our customers can see them, they just can't ask us about them!

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

In my case the problem seems to rest somewhere between eBay and uBO 1.14.4; replacing the latter with Adaware Ad Block solved the issues for me, but I'm not saying it would for everyone.

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

It is very hard to list anything right now but i found a work around. Go to any sold listing. Click sell similar. When it takes you to page, change catagory to what you want. Change title. Change everything to what your listing. Do photos last. When they will not load put your listing into draft. Then exit and go to draft. It should give you the  classic photo uploader. Add photos then list your item. Also if you must call ebay cs dont let the recorded bot know your a seller or you will be on hold for hours. Tell the recording bot that you are a buyer. Then you will get through to cs in seconds. It seems cs hates sellers and dont want to talk to us. And when they do they just want to process us like a can of cheap tuna. Good luck

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

Issue might be related to Firefox and is supposedely fixed in upcoming release 56?

I just disabled UO for ebay.com and still getting the bug. Are other people getting it that aren't UO users?

That won't do it, simply disabling for eBay doesn't seem to work properly - you need to disable uBlock completely.  I'd suggest trying another blocker.  Adaware Ad Block now works perfectly for me and I'm accessing eBay again and buying stuff without any problems (just make sure you disable pop-up blocker for PayPal so that you can follow through on payments).

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

For those rushing to uninstall uBlock Origin: don't be hasty ! They explain here [1] very clearly that uBO is actually made to work with the latest version of FF and it goes rogue because of other, non-compliant extensions. It will be a hard time untill all add-ons transition to the new Firefox extension framework.

If you want to quickly use the older uBO, get it from FF's official site: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/file/685614/ublock_origin-1.13.8-an+fx+sm+tb.xpi

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

Thanks for the heads up, rolling back fixed it for me! I even tried whitelisting ebay and all their related domains and it still wouldn't work. Rolled back to 1.13.8 and all is well.

I'm running FF 52.3.0 ESR, Windows 10... So it definitely has to be a UBO / eBay thing.

I honestly don't know why eBay has to over-complicate their site. They dump so much code for the simplest things it makes pages slower and slower to load. Heck, I have to wait about 10-15 seconds just to be able to login using LastPass... Don't know what crazy code eBay has behind the scenes but you know it's just a bunch of bloat...

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

I am experiencing problems in firefox too. The site is all but unusable in my firefox right now. It previously worked fine.

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

Same here. FF 54 used to work fine but about Aug 25 it stopped working. I'd go to the site, one page would load fine. I'd do a search and click the Buy Now button and nothing would happen. The browser throbber wouldn't activate, it's like Ebay didn't get my mouse click.

Half the time I am just waiting for an Ebay page to load. This doesn'thappen on any other site. No VPN here, just FF 54. Same problem on multiple PCs includig Win10, Win8.

I am now using Pale Moon as FF no longer works for me with ebay.

I also switched to Pale Moon just for this ebay account. It sucks having to run 4 or 5 different browsers to meet all my needs.

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

This TOTALLY happened to me as well!

i am a Top Rated Power Seller, I had the highest sales about a week ago and then steep drop off of not only sales but views!

it took me 3 phone calls and about 8 different eBay phone reps until I finally spoke to someone who is kind and smart enough to let me know what’s going on!

and not to mention I PAID for 3 day auctions All which have experienced NO ACTIVITY AT ALL.

this is a disaster and I am devestated and think ebay should be refunding these seller fees to whom has been effected such as myself!

I am absolutely devestated as eBay is my main / sole income after being hit by a drunk driver and 3 shoulder surgeries within less than a year.

Re: Large pervasive bug affecting millions of users.

After speaking to 8 phone representatives I finally got an answer that YES THIS IS A BUG ON EBAYS END!

personally I think they should be refunding those affected such as myself whom tried doing 3 day auctions and paying a ton in additional seller fees ALL of which recieved little to NO ACTIVITY.

i am truly dissapointed in eBay and devestated at all the hours and work I have done in solving the issue myself as this is my sole means of income after being hit by a drunk driver
