This is sort of a hypothetical, but have the scammers gotten good enough to pull something like this off on Ebay Proper's main site?
In addition, could a scammer theoretically hijack an old inactive seller account that was reputable, and then make the positive feedback appear much more recent; say some feedback was left in 2011 but, was then edited to make it appear like the feedback was from 2019 or 2020? The possibility worries me a bit.

That article is from 2014, I doubt the hack is still working.

I know that it's an old article, I'm just wondering if something similar to that could be done again, and with fewer ways to mitigate against the possibility. You would never be able to tell the difference between legitimate Ebay sellers and scams. That's a scary thought.
