Item description error?

Is anyone having issues listing today?  Specifically with the item description?  I keep getting an error saying my item description contains irrelevant information, but I use the same generic description for all of my items and haven’t ever had a problem. I’ve changed it back and forth, but it doesn’t matter what’s in the box- it won’t list. I got ONE listing to squeeze through, but I don’t know how because it had the original description I was using in the first place. Is this a glitch I should wait out, or should I call eBay for help?  Thanks y’all. Haven’t ever used the forum before.

What does the error say, exactly? If possible, copy and paste the text of the error message.

That may allow someone to search and figure out what the error means.

You can try scanning your listings here, although you have a great many listings so the scan may take a while to complete:

Most of the time, an error like this means that there is some html code in the description that isn't allowed. Often, the code is very hard to find because it doesn't display as code for some reason, so you can't see it in the listing, but it still triggers the problem.

FYI, the description is supposed to describe the specific item that is being sold in your listing. From what I can see, your descriptions don't say anything at all about the specific item, they are completely generic.

Please remove any branding, promotions, shipping, returns, payment or other condition unrelated information from this field. This includes text intended for pricing or discount announcements.”

The problem is that it doesn’t matter what I put there right now, I get this error.  I’m thinking it may be an html issue as mentioned below, so I’m trying those suggestions too.

Thank you!  Yep - it turned out to be a weird HTML error that I found with that tool you suggested. I really appreciate the help. 🙂

In the past this error was associated with extra wording in the "item condition" field in particular. Make sure it contains only approved terms such as "new" or "used" without anything else added.
