Instant sales drop to 3 sales a day after 2 years stable 20-30 sales a day.

I am not sure if it is has to do something with announced 'technical issues', but the sales instantly dropped after July 1st to ridiculous numbers. Anyone else faced the same problem?

I’m not a large scale seller on EBay but for the past 6 months have had a lot of listings at once to clear out my inventory. For about a month now my sales have dropped off to practically nothing. It’s so frustrating to go to all the work to list things and not sell no matter how cheap I lost them for. I searched for LED snowman because I have 2 listed right now. Just as I Suspected, my listings are so far down nobody will find them. All these Chinese ones that are a couple bucks show up first. I bet I scrolled through 200-300 before I found mine.

I am one those Small Sellers. I used to have 125 to 150 Listings and am now down to 70 to 80 all of which come from Auctions & Estate Sales. One thing I have noticed recently is the lack of eBay Listings showing up in a Google Search.

I have always submited my Store Listings to Google Search and for the longest time if I did a "Like" search a number of my items would show up - that no longer happens and I feel that what ever eBay did to upset Google it has killed our sales.

My sales have been down also for over a month.

I am not competing with off shore sellers, so I do not know what my problems are.

I can sign out of my account to do a search, and see my items are appearing.

My only recent sales were from new listings/relisting.  I have items that have always been fairly steady sellers that have just dropped. One recent item sold was sourced over 3 years ago. It had been put aside as it was not selling well. Sold quickly for more than in my past sales.

Possibly I am being undersold. I am not priced the highest, or the lowest in most cases, but as I said, have been steady sellers. They are not seasonal items, so summer/vacation/whatever is not a factor.

This month I will have to forgo sourcing inventory.  Filling boxes in the garage with things that are not moving won't help me.

We aren't big sellers. Just something to keep me busy/amused, and provide a little cash for the wife to buy books/DVD's/nail polish on eBay.  I feel bad for those relying on this for needed income.

STAR-FIGHTER, We do not KNOW WHAT YOU SAW - Example, there may have been 100 to buy, but only 3 came up in YOUR search, and you bought one thinking  nothing was wrong..... Those other 97 sellers were paying large fees to list/show their items, but never got exposure.  My sales also dropped, and after 18.5 years on eBay I must say - I enjoyed the vacation, but was very frustrated for nearly 2 weeks not KNOWING what was happening! (And, I was still paying those high business fees, with no revenue coming in)  Whatever their tech issues were, and there have been several over the years, makes a seller wonder if this is the best platform to use. Just hope there is not a dip in sellers due to this. I understand they have put in stops now (Or in next few weeks) , so this does not happen again, but in retail and technology, you need to hire and utilize the people to think ahead of the issues and be prepared to resolve instantly!

That may explain why number of views are at fault. If the numbers of views are low, or not counted, then there may be an issue with people not getting to even see that auctions. Impossible to tell, and ebay won´t say. The lack of sales indicate this is more than an issue with showing numbers of views. The search function may be at fault too. If so, then a sale these days may only be happening through pure luck. Anyone tried to make a search that should include their own auctions? And if so, did they find them?

My sales are 25-35% of what they have been all year. Jan-May, our sales were increasing every month.  We broke 50k in one month.  We do $1500 a day avg and now were doing $500.  The changes and glitches are clearly a problem. Customers are probably waiting for a sale that I am not allowed to do.

While that sounds positive going forward. What about those of us that were proactive and lowered our prices yesterday instead of sitting on our hands? I knew it wouldnt do much but now I am not going to be able put my store on sale due to changing prices yesterday, it looks like.

Sales stopped so they changed it afetr a few days but still leaving in weird price control parts that mean some of us may continue with our 1/3 sales for another 14 days.

Ebay makes a one paragraph announcement with no real details or not taking into consideration that many of us suffered a few days of bad sales and just lowered our prices. You cant reply to it and say hey ebay, why cant we change our prices? Can we still put on sale new listings?

Yes, you ARE being undersold if you are selling fairly common books, DVDs, CDS, etc or items that lots of other people are selling.    These catagories are getting filled by mega discount sellers selling at cheap prices with free shipping.   For instance, I was going to sell a Guns N Roses Greatest Hits CD.   Saw it was up for $6 with free shipping brand new by a mega seller with 100 copies of it.   It costs him up to $3 to ship so what did he do get the item for free?   He is probably making around $1 profit, but if you have 100s of copies, that adds up per item.    However, if you still sell 1 of a kind or rare out of print items that not everybody has up, you still do OK.   For instance, I also sell records that not a lot of people have up so that can be a good selling item for me.   However, my clothing sales are very low since I have to compete with lots of sellers on those items.

I have had the same issue.  Sudden and dramatic Death Drop.  A few few trickle through sales.  This isn't the same old complaining about no sales.  This is "somethings going on"

Well, my sales are getting on back on track.  We can now run markdown sales again.  These are important to motivate buyers to buy.   If you are not running autions or having sales, you are not providing buyers an incentive to buy right now, instead they may add the item to watch list and buy whenever so to sell stuff quickly on a daily basis, you have to be marketing or have really hot items at decent prices that sell fast.

That instant drop occured in my account 28 months ago , and it NEVER recovered. Each month geting lower and lower and lower. And Ebay requires us to do more to remain TRP, and to pay more, all the while they are shifting the margins to the point that they what they are paid is more then your profits after exspenses.

Seeking resolution, be prepeared for the lies,  contradictions, and how it is just "you" this is happening to. Try having 3500+listings, 48 hours no sales, and a SUPERVISOR in Merchant support directly stating "all your items are undesirable".

No matter how we list, relist, list new, external CSV...the end result...instantly buried in search results. Our sales are down to 20% from 28 months ago...and still falling. We are barely breaking even thses last 2 months. But as I was told, by Merchant Support, "Suck it up, it is what it is" and "That is where you deserve to be"
