“We’re Sorry for Recent Technical Issues That May Have Impacted You”
Thank you for acknowledging the small store owners struggle with all the changes.
First let me state that I love selling on eBay and would like to continue to do so.
eBay needs to understand the little guy is different than the corporate sellers.
It is important that eBay techs understand the problems that have been going on for some time:
-
A. New Listing Form – no Listing Designer = Extra work
The Designer was a fun part of the long process of listing an item.
To use a design on my listing I now have to find an active listing and then click Sell Similar. However, this only works if you subscribe to the SELLING MANAGER PRO – so I pay $15.99 a month to have this ‘privilege’.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE LISTING DESIGNER ON THE NEW FORM
-
B. Store Colors
Store owners pay rent and want the option of having their own store colors.
-
C. Store Categories
I have read that we will have to change to eBay categories and that our store categories will no longer exist.
This is a fiasco – look at the long almost impossible to maneuver through list of eBay categories.
I switched over for a while to check it out and I could not find my own listed items!
-
PROBLEM –
My complete list of categories shows in my store, but there is a partial list showing when viewing an item.
Sometimes the category for the item being viewed is missing.
How can my buyers find more items that they might want to buy?
Please fix this.
-
D. FREE SHIPPING POLICY = a real lack of understanding shipping rates.
.
Sellers living in the center of the USA can possibly agree to ship free.
Sellers shipping small items can figure the postage into the item’s sale price.
Sellers shipping items in Flat Rate Boxes can figure the postage.
The rest of us are faced with enormous price differences for shipping – many
times the cost difference is far more than the selling price of the item!
SO FREE SHIPPING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US!
-
E. 30 Day Returns –
I adopted this one and have not seen a problem though I am sure many sellers find this hard.
-
F. Promotions
Once again this is for corporate sellers.
This is just too complicated.
Little stores only need the simple Mark Down Manager.
-
G. MARK DOWN MANAGER PROBLEMS – DO NOT ADVERTISE MY SALE IF IT WAS BLOCKED!
Right now I have a sales banner at the top of my fixed price listings :
EXTRA 40% OFF – SEE ALL ELIGIBLE ITEMS
The link takes you to a page of all the items that I chose to put on sale.
None are on sale!
This happened because I started a sale and chose them but then they did not meet the 14 day policy.
So, my sale is being advertising but my items are blocked.
Please fix this absurdly awkward problem.
-
H. Shipping and Payments Tab on item is not working!
Many times I have explained to my customers how to calculate their shipping by going to this tab and putting in their zip code for their shipping cost to show.
But when you do this the window jumps back to the Description tab and you have to reclick the shipping tab to see what was calculated.
Please fix this.
The average buyer is lost when this happens.
-
I. Listing Info is missing Views
Views are important to us.
They are a wonderful indicator of a possible need to change your title or your price.
They also give us the hope of winning a sale.
A view is like a lottery ticket – if you don’t have a lottery ticket you can’t hope to win the lottery.
-
J.
SEE FULL ITEM DESCRIPTION BUTTON – worst idea ever!
This is probably the worst change of all.
If a buyer doesn’t want to scroll down and read the description – he doesn’t.
A buyer does not want an extra step of clicking a button to see the description and then clicking back to main page.
The description is the main page.
Now I have the extra work of adding this spec to each item - asking buyer to PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION.
-
Please consider making things simple again.
Thank you, Amy

I'm seeing the banner and when I click on see more, I get taken to a page with 200+ items....... is this what you are talking about or did you have to do something to get them to show up?

Hi,
That is the page - but no items are for sale - there is no mark down - you are seeing the price - not a 40% reduced price.
Thank you for checking this out, Amy

"FREE SHIPPING POLICY = a real lack of understanding shipping rates."
"Free" shipping is a gimmick that means shipping cost is built-in to the item price. If your buyers typically buy only one piece of one item then typically this works out. BUT, if your buyers typically buy more than one piece and/or more than one item, then they're "overcharged" for shipping, typically to the point that they won't complete the purchase.
"Shipping and Payments Tab on item is not working!"
Even if the tab were working, the Shipping Calculator is hopelessly broken. See my "eBay Shipping Calculator is hopelessly broken..." thread for details.
"SEE FULL ITEM DESCRIPTION BUTTON – worst idea ever!"
The same moronity behind this brainchild is behind not also displaying shipping cost for the specified alternatives, or at least displaying the lesser of the alternatives, on listing pages at the top where "Shipping:" is highlighted; a potential buyer has to click on "See details" or the "Shipping and payments" tab. Some road scholar (not to be confused with Rhodes Scholar) figured out that hiding this critical information would be good for business, helpful to buyers, frustrating for sellers. (You know, all the good stuff.)

Thanks for your response.
I agree - a little less college and lot more logic would do wonders for eBay.
