This morning (Jan 20, 2018) I had a Spybot screen pop up saying the listing I was going to was a suspicious address.
I had visited this listing at least 3 times before without any warnings from Spybot.
Then a dialogue box came up. Stating 3 actions I could take: 1)Do nothing, 2) Allow permanently and add to white list, 3) Allow for this session only.
Since it mentioned eBay and the URL for the listing, I wasn't sure what I should do.
I finally decided to check the one for allow permanently and put on white list. My thinking was, I trust eBay (have been a member for several years and I had been to this same listing a few times already) this way no matter which one it was referring to (eBay or the listing URL) it "SHOULD" be okay (should being the operative word here).
From that moment to this It continuously freezes up and the bar at the bottom appears saying to click to recover the web page. So I click it.
Then a dialogue box comes up giving me an option of 'Click to find a solution and close program' or 'Close program'.
I usually opt for the look for a solution and close program. But it does not actually close the program after it 'supposedly' looks for a solution. I say, supposedly, because in all the number of times I went through this all during the afternoon, it did NOT ONCE fix the problem.
Then I thought it may be that the 'white list' thats referred to is on Spybot (since they are the ones who warned me about a 'malicious address' in the first place.
I looked for how to access the white list on Spybot and could not access it. There is an explanation that it gives. But as far as I can tell, you can only create a white list on a new computer. Which makes absolutely NO sense to me. So its possible I misinterpreted it.
I decided to uninstall the entire Spybot program. Then reinstall it. I thought it should wipe away the old white list. After I got the Spybot program reinstalled and updated, etc. I came back to check whether it fixed the problem with the eBay website constantly freezing up on me. When I say constantly, I mean exactly that.
It is a little bit better. I actually was able to scroll down one page and go to a second page, before it started in freezing up.
I can't even shop on eBay because of this problem. I can't get it to do anything that I want it to do. I was going to bid on an item earlier today and could not get it to work for more than about 30 seconds before it froze up. This was just before I uninstalled Spybot & reinstalled it.
The thing is, I've had BOTH ebay and Spybot on quite a few of my computers over-the-years and it is only in the past year that I've started having this 'freezing' problem.
I'm wondering if anyone in the eBay community has either had this problem or is having this problem as well.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW if you have had it and what you did to rectify it.
Thank you, in advance, for any and all help you can give to me.
