How do you know exactly when an item on Ebay was listed?

I've searched and searched and haven't found an answer to this question, but it seems like it's possible based on a lot of what I've read.

 I'm a new seller on Ebay and I'm trying to get a good understanding of how long it takes certain items to sell, on average. To do this I want to look at sold listings of items similar to what I want to sell and compare the date they sold to the date they were listed so that I can start to gather an idea of how long it takes something, i.e. jeans, to sell.

 For example if someone listed a pair of jeans on January 1st and they sold on March 1st that means they took about 2 months to sell. If I compare multiple listing of the same jeans that sold I can determine an average, let's say hypothetically that average is 2 months. This will tell me I just need to wait 2 months and then if they don't sell shortly after there may be a problem with my listing and I need to edit it.

 This information is very important because it'll give me a good idea on if I need to change something on my listing (Details, price, shipping etc.) or if I just need to be more patient and wait for the right buyer.

Once an item has sold, I don't think there is any way to find out when it was originally listed.

For unsold items, if you do a search by newly listed, you can go down the list and get a good approximation of when they were listed.   For example, you may see listings in the order 22 Oct, 4 Apr, 3 Jan, 22 Dec, 4 July, 15 Mar,  20 Jan and 3 Dec.

In the example, the first 3 items were listed in 2020. The next 4 were listed in 2019 and the last one for 3 Dec. was listed in 2018.

You can change the sort order to "date listed", and then it will show the items in chronological order by when they were listed, and the listing date (month and day) will be shown.

It's possible that some of the items will have been listed more than a year ago, and you will be able to see that, the months will start to repeat as you go through the list.

Too late to edit: this may not work anymore. I just tried it, and I was not able to do a time:newly listed search on completed items. I don't know if this is a glitch or if it was recently changed.

The only way to get a close idea of how long it has been on ebay or how many times it has been listed would be to use the advance search for completed listings. I have often wondered why there isn't a window that one could see when opening to view an item, how many times it had been relisted. Non store and store sellers have different number of days for each listing, could get messy and even I would not want buyers to know how many times I have relisted an item, but there are ways to find out esp if I don't change the title. Listing are removed after X number of days, but would get you in the ballpark.

There is no option in “sort” drop down menu for “date listed.”
