The guarantied shipping program is not adjusting the mandatory shipping date despite all of the post offices being closed today due to presidential decree. So I sold a item last night and as part of the guarantied shipping program Ebay told me the item needed to ship by today. I printed the label and went to the post office only to find they are closed today. It turns out in honor of former president Bush all federal employees have be told to take the day off in observance with the funeral. While this is not due to national holiday it is a presidential decree that has turned today into a holiday. I called ebay to see how this will effect my handle time. I was told by the rep that every person taking part in the guarantied shipping program that sold a item today will have to call in and report they could not ship their item on time due to the post offices being closed. Then after the item has been delivered call back and request their handle time be fixed. Now for a single sell that is annoying but I am just one person. What they don't tell you is that it takes close to 2 months for their only employee who adjusts the handle time to get to your request and review it then maybe make the change. While that is very annoying as this has happened to me in the past when you look at the bigger picture it becomes quite absurd. They are going to increase their supports call volume for the next 2 days as each seller taking part in the program that sold a item will have to call in and report the issue. Then over the next 2 or 3 weeks they will have another influx of calls from the same individuals calling back to request their handle time be corrected.
It seams that they are increasing their support cost and overburdening their support lines when all that needs to be done is have the guarantied shipping program adjust the ship by date. It is not like this is 1 or 2 post offices closing this is all of them along with all federal employees. Then after trying to talk to a supervisor to point this out surprise surprise there was no one who could take the call. While Ebay not acknowledging any issues and refusing to fix problems has become the norm in a way the increased cost they will incur due to not looking into the issue or even considering to address the problem with how their guarantied shipping program does not make adjustments due to weather or current events like they said. The most frustrating thing is that all sellers in the end will pay as it is our final value fees and subscription fees that will be increased.

Then there is the buyer side to think of too. Your system has given a inaccurate delivery date to buyers and their items will have a 1 day delay on their shipping. If the buyers file a claim it will not be the sellers fault so by the rules of the program ebay will be responsible to make it right with the buyer. That alone you would think would be enough to motivate ebay to look into the issue and fix their system generating the mandatory ship date and the date buyers are being told their item will arrive by.

I WOULD LET IT GO.. ONE ITEM WON'T KILL YOU AND TO JUMP THROUGH A BUNCH OF HOOPS TO GET THEM TO FIX IT, FORGET IT

eBay will automatically protect your Seller Performance and your late shipment rate will not be impacted for USPS shipments during this closure (any defects incurred will be removed and correctly reflected in your monthly seller evaluation).

"eBay will automatically protect your Seller Performance..."
Chuckling... I'm sure they will.
According to my video cameras, my USPS carrier picked up outgoing packages on Tuesday 12/4 at 7:03 PM (average time for mail delivery here) but the scan form wasn't scanned until 12/5 (the day USPS was closed) so let's see how much "automatic protection" eBay provides. About the same as in the past, I expect.
