Ebay site does not show the number of views on my listings. Showing up as zero

The number of views on my listings are showing up as zero.  Once in a while they come back for a short time and then disappear.  Very frustrating! Anyone else having this issue?  Is there a way to fix it?

So I have the same problem as everyone, although now I'm not even seeing zero in my view columns I'm seeing - dashes. However to those people saying this is effecting their sales I really dont see how this is possible....you do know that summer has a traditional decline in overall sales, I've seen it in my store every year. And if you do some testing you will see your items are just as visable as always. I tried searching for 5 different items I have listed on 5 different devices that have no ties to my account (friends and familes laptops, tablets and phones) I searched items that have been listed for weeks, items I listed in the past week and items I just posted, all are just as visable as always. I am still selling items, in fact an item I posted yesterday that was/should be an item that sells quickly sold after being up for just about an hour. So while I agree this is a ridiculous problem and eBay needs to fix it immedietly and at the very least TELL US WHY! And not make us have to call CS for what is clearly a widespread issue. The issue is NOT effecting your sales. I just dont see that in all the research I have done, the same goes for my GF's account who is also a seller. And to eBay...2 days to 2 months?!....Cmon guys seriously

thank you for your post but I disagree with you and I have just learned there is something else at play here. You have had a number of sales over the last 2 weeks to help ensure your visibility. For those of us that haven't, for perhaps a variety of reasons, I read a very interesting detailed post under selling- "Ebay statistics broken" I recommend you read. It gives evidence to a change in the % stagnant sales vs successful sales affecting your standing & visibility, broken impressions and a variety of site failures that Ebay has not taken action on.  It makes complete sense for many of us and quite frightening given this seller fits the new catalogue seller profile completely and used to be top in his catagory.  You sell in a niche collectible catagory which is beneficial - not all of us do so that also affects driving people to our sites when we are more generalized. The lower our sell through rate the lower our standing. If we cannot comply with 30 day free returns even worse - As there are pitfalls with the search engine with certain descriptors in titles I find it makes certain listings hard to find - I have done a number of tests recently - the more detailed often the less they show in a general 3 key word search of same - we had been told to include all the pertinent information and be specific - well the more specific you are in a title maybe it conflicts with the item specifics below but the whole thing is frustrating and very contradictory in design. It used to be key words were picked up in the first line of the description - now that the description is to many, a click box,  who knows if that has been severed. When I look at my mobile listings Ebay has played with the title, reduced it and taken out key words that then only populate when you open the description. The word (s) may actual be the key identifier of what the product is ! I do like to write properly in English and for antique dealers there is an academic format to wording sequence /cataloguing which is industry standard -  I have found so many inconsistencies in searches, whether my listings or others, I really think the site is on overload and being asked to do too many things which may be causing conflicts besides all the errors that haven't been fixed.

I thank you for suggesting that post and after reading it and doing a bit more diving into my own numbers...I stand corrected. This issue doesnt appear to be as simple as views not showing up. It's very discouraging and I'm finding myself wanting to find more outlets for selling my items. I will be spreading the word on the issues stated in the post you provided and paying much closer attention to the issues at hand. I thank you very much educating me and everyone else on eBay's blatant neglect of these glaring issues. Good luck to all.

FWIW...

"summer has a traditional decline in overall sales"

My sales last summer, monthly and over the entire course of the summer, were four times more than my current sales, monthly and over the months, since December. My sales last summer were about 80% of what they were during Spring and Fall.

Since early winter I've noticed that during a period of low/no sales, when I submit at least 20-30 new listings, I have several sales, typically/mostly NOT of the newly listed items. Similarly, that during a period of low/no sales, when I list a quantity of a "hot selling item" I also have several sales of my OTHER items to DIFFERENT buyers.

And, there's also the curious case of one particular listing...

This is a new-old-stock big-name-brand precision lab quality device that retails for about $35.

Original listing; good-till-canceled; submitted in February 2017:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/142256100525

Quickly, three sales of two, which is typically the quantity one needs/uses:

US $19.99    2    Mar-09-17 13:44:36 PST
US $19.99    2    Mar-06-17 07:33:09 PST
US $19.99    2    Mar-01-17 16:42:40 PST

Then... nothing.

Eventually I reduced the price to $14.99... still nothing.

Mystified, I ended and relisted at essentially my cost hoping to liquidate; submitted 28 March 2018:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/142737812056

Quickly, one sale of six to a buyer who recognizes a spectacular bargain:

US $9.99    6    Mar-30-18 16:26:13 PDT

Then... nothing.

Mystified again, I ended and relisted with "free" shipping at essentailly my cost, hoping to liquidate this "unwanted garbage" part; submitted 9 June 2018:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/142827983495

Immediately, one sale of two:

US $13.79    2    Jun-09-18 14:26:12 PDT

Then... nothing more.

My primary "competition" seemed and seems to be this listing:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/121518087530

...which now has "150 sold" as of me posting this message. It's a poor quality backalley knockoff made of "mystery metal" and apparently nickel-plated, without (real) gold-plated pins. (One of the last metals you want to use for RF is nickel, and REAL gold doesn't oxidize and create resistance.) If it were $5 shipped it would be fair value for hobby and beginning-student uses. No one needing repeatable accurate clean results would buy/use it though.

In eBay search, with the term "attenuator 10db n" I find my competitor-lsting at the very top, even though its listing title DOESN'T match the search term, AND even though MY listing's title DOES MATCH THE SEARCH TERM. I see that my listing has reached #9 on the first search results page. It had been somewhere on the FIFTH PAGE, and that was from a week ago on back to when I submitted the new listing.

This is just one listing so it's a stretch to use it alone as an argument, but it is illuminating.

PS- Re my immediately-previous post, be sure to examine the item specifics for each of the listings; my listings include many precise item specifics while my "competition" does not. Which raises the question, what's the point of item specifics then?

I have been selling on Ebay for almost 12 years.  Even then Ebay was trying to push casual sellers out.  I stopped selling in 2013 after a very bad experience with a buyer, returned to selling in 2014 after retiring to find Ebay is totally 100% buyer and sellers are "the bad" guys, and Ebay is doing their best to force policies on our sales; such as the 30 day return.

This view issue has been wacky for a month now.  Many times I would view one of my 0 view items to find as many as 4 views showing up when I check my listing.  They will fix it when they feel like it.  That's the way it has always been and always will be.  Thank heavens I only do this as a hobby.

Hi thanks for showing your examples

A couple of things may be also influencing their standing

T Rated Seller, over 25,000 sales and direct feedback link next to their number sold.

I wonder if the TR & 30 free returns now trumps the item specifics?

I had read a post last year from others that stocked lge quantities of parts saying

that they found it more beneficial to put a lower number available. I know this may mess up your

internal inventory accounting but then it doesnt look like such a disparity between what you have

211 vs 2 sold - problem I have read is that the # sold doesnt carry over in relists and you cant edit it

once you do. So I dont know what the solution is - you can always say a one liner in your listing that you have sold a lot more than are showing above

The seller should be reported for violating browse & manipulation - you are not allowed to put "Fast Ship" in the title influencing sales - thats a given and NOT part of the title - the rest of us are compliant - I would not include exclamation points they are not a word and perhaps not digested well by Cassini or whatever ??? they are using !

they are also violating the listing practices rule by saying US Stock

that is not appropriate and also creates diversion to their site

what if you took all the extra numbers at the end of your title out

and kept them in the first line of your title in description or model number etc

interestingly competitor also doesnt use UPC code which if brand new I would think they

would be required to - some people will do anything to get ahead of others... its a shame

when people manipulate the system to the detriment of the rest of us honest sellers.

Had the same issue for over 5 days.   Called CS last night, they put in a request to the tech people for it to be fixed.  They said it is a known problem and they are working to fix it.   She told me I would be put on top of the list to have it fixed.  (sure, I thought....don't hold my breath).  Well, lo and behold....this a.m. my view counts are back.   Someone else suggested calling them, so that's what I did, and now my view counts are back.   You may want to try calling...it worked for me.   YMMV.  Good Luck!

Im having the same issue.  When I sell, I get views almost immediately....after 30 hours I show 12 views and 7 watchers.   Then I’ll look later and it says no views.   Not sure what’s going on.   You never get 7 watchers and only 12 views....   I should have 30+ views now.

I just called eBay and they told me they have a bug in the system. I’m,sited. Anew item yesterday and should have had 30 vies at least by now. Shows none or 12 depending when I look. But I have 7 watchers. Just listed a second item 30 minutes ago and after I called ...I already have 2 views and both auctions are showing...for the moment.
