Ebay's Customer Service Line Shut Down Early?!

It's 7:10PM PST as I write this in California. I'm trying to contact eBay's Customer Service Line, but I get a screen with the following: "Sorry, we're currently closed. Please contact us during our normal business hours:

Monday to Sunday 5:00 am to 10:00 pm PT." According to eBay's statement, I have three more hours to reach them, but I can't. Any similar issues, folks? Thanks!

Re: Ebay's Customer Service Line Shut Down Early?!

I've been at it since 8:00PM CST/CDT (Texas).

I've tried the Chat waiting over 80 Minutes with a count-down message that settled at "We'll be with you in less than a minute." (That was over 40 Minutes ago).

I opened a second "Chat" & it's stating "We'll be with you in about 78 minutes."

This is ridiculous.

I also eMailed Customer service & got some idiotic message as per the following:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Email us

Your message has been sent to eBay Customer Service.

We know you need to get your question answered quickly. Following guidance from local health authorities, we’re currently operating with limited support staff. As a result, we’re experiencing longer than usual wait times. We apologize for this delay.

We will answer as soon as we can and ask that you don’t send more than one message about the same issue as it can slow things down.

We appreciate your patience while we get you the answers you need."

This is simply unbelievable & not sustainable....not in this day & age of Big-Tech.

Of course, like Big Gov't?? we have to put up with this without the ability to withhold our fees for failure to perform to the ToS's & eBay agreement.

"we have to put up with this without the ability to withhold our fees for failure to perform to the ToS's & eBay agreement."

I totally agree with you, rhino-lip! I'm paying fees and a store subscription, I should get support, right? If eBay's service is reduced, so should our fees!

That's terrible you've been made to wait so long.

All eBay has to do is have their Support staff WORK FROM HOME remotely. They can re-route calls and/or do live chat from each employee's home. My local cable company Cox Communications does exactly that: I call someone and, as they're helping me and we chat, they say they're working from home. (They're a nationwide company, just like eBay.)

So, like you said, the tech is available in 2020. For some reason eBay Management wants all of our money without providing service.

The CSR's from SE Asia are working from home and have been for quite some time. This is just a reduction of support using Covid 19 as an excuse.

Re: Ebay's Customer Service Line Shut Down Early?!

Ever had a major issue with your eBay account and needed to speak to a human eBay representative asap? In this post I’m going to share all the best ways to reach the eBay customer service team (and share a surprising conclusion in the end!).

One of the most stressful times as an eBay seller is when something crucial goes wrong (such as account suspension, having listings removed, account hacking issues) and you must leave everything you’re doing at that moment and attend to the problem.

Whenever this happened to me (I wrote some time ago about how I reinstated my suspended eBay account) I was looking for the fastest way to reach a human representative at eBay but this has always been a huge challenge on its own because eBay is doing whatever it can to hide their ‘human’ contact details.

eBay’s Facebook Support
Reaching eBay on Facebook is also pretty straightforward and you should receive a response within a few hours. Go directly to eBay’s Facebook page and write them a message.

If you are outside the US, you can easily find your country’s eBay Facebook page. British eBay users for example can go to the eBay UK Facebook account.

Why eBay hides their customer service phone number?
The short answer is quite simple: money.

eBay has 25 million sellers and a total of 170 million users (buyers and sellers).

Imagine if just 0.1% of those customers would need help from an actual customer service representative at the same time, that’s 170,000 simultaneous calls.

Even if a representative could take 3 calls an hour and assuming you would be willing to wait up to 40 minutes in order to get service, eBay would still need more than 60,000 support reps.

Building a call center with such an enormous amount of employees is a huge financial expense, and I’m not even talking about the time it takes to build such an operation, the amount of training required and the complexity of automated systems needed to manage this are also quite unfathomable.

That’s why eBay help center is geared towards offering you ready made answers for numerous topics and if you can’t find the answer it first sends you to the eBay community to seek help from fellow eBay sellers.

The absolute last resort from eBay’s point of view is providing you with a phone number to call their customer service team.

Let’s go over all the ways you can contact eBay’s customer service quickly. Many people are not comfortable calling customer service because of different reasons (for example a language barrier) so I’m going to cover chat and messaging options as well.

How to reach eBay customer service on social media?
Not surprisingly, at least to me, the easiest way to reach eBay customer support seems to be through social media. In an age when people don’t like talking on the phone and in a globalized world where speaking by phone internationally can be costly or language barriers prevent people from physically talking it is no wonder that ‘chat’ in its many forms is flourishing. As far as eBay is concerned,Twitter and Facebook are leading the curve:

eBay’s Twitter Support
eBay customer support has opened up a an account specifically dedicated to customer service on Twitter: @AskeBay. In order to ask them a question you need to ‘follow’ them and then tweet your question and insert ‘@AskeBay’ at any point – the eBay team now has the option to message you directly and you should be hearing from them shortly.

eBay users living outside the USA should add their country for example @eBayUK or @eBayIndia.

Re: Ebay's Customer Service Line Shut Down Early?!

Yes, I've see this annoying message about 3 times now and I just need a live human on the phone!  I don't call ebay unless it's a last resort like reversing international fees when I don't sell internationally or charging me an extra $12 for a basic store, etc.. GOOD LUCK to all of us sellers!! 😑😒

@danny_lucy

Are you requesting a call back through the web site? I currently see a one minute wait time.

To contact eBay, use the chat assistant to request a chat with an agent or a call back by starting on the Help & Contact page and following the links for your issue.

What options you see may depend on your particular issue and how busy that department is at the moment.

Try entering "agent" into the chat window. You may have to provide some context to reach the correct department. If you see a "Still need help?" or "More options" choice, either of those should lead to a call back option.

If nothing else works, try this link between 5am to 9:30pm Pacific Time:
