Ebay needs to be transparent with site issues

Yesterday...
ZERO organic sales. 40,000+ items and zero organic and only 36 promoted, promoted at 25%. Server issues? Promoted issues? Search issues? All of the above as it seems to always be?

When the site does not have issues I sell 70-80 items a day. Yesterday there were issues with (trying to) taking offers and it error out along with some app issues that have been going on for months now. (error four zero two).

After 21 years of doing this and I got reports (from someone with ebay) of server crashes in San Jose and Salt Lake City it appears some sellers items are not being shown properly and causes days like yesterday. Called it in of course and had an issue ticket made up, again. Just venting my frustrations with "it's not you it's us".

Ebay needs to be transparent with site issues

Category browsing has been broken for many users, myself included, for months and ebay hasn't even acknowledged there's a problem. I think their system has gotten out of their control to manage at this point when baseline functionality is broken and they don't seem to care.

Ebay needs to be transparent with site issues

Every last single time I search for a specific item these days I have 100s of legit items blocked from view. If I didn't know how to get around this (I have to search multiple different combinations of terms to get the full results) I wouldn't know that 80% of auctions even exist.

Try this. Log out and search you own auctions. Look for lowest price first and see how many auctions are left out. Then hit see all auctions and see how a bunch of auctions are still left out. The algorithm is broken. It completely blocks legit auctions from being seen. This site has become trash over the last decade and this is a peak low. Im not sure how it decides who to block, but I know that people with decades of history are having the same issues as me and you.

They fired their entire support staff a decade or so ago and since then it been up to the "algorithm" with zero human interaction. Good luck. The only thing you can do is boycott this site. Iv'e been trying my best to do this. Attempting to complain or change things will get you nowhere. If they put you in a corner you just have to face the wall and take it.

Look for lowest price first and see how many auctions are left out.

The "lowest first" sort will filter your results. In many searches sorted that way with more than a handful of results you will see a message at the top of the results with a link to see more results:

If you do not your results filtered, you can use that link to see more results or else use a different sorting method.

Yes something is wrong. I called today and of course NOTHING wrong yet no sales for 3 days. I never had no sales in more than a day or 2 since I began selling here and things are selling fine on other venues. SO YES EBAY IT IS YOU that is not working!

The problem is simple, it's not server crashes, or whatever else they are feeding you, that I can guarantee. Ebay has backups, of backups, of backups, a hardrive, RAM issue, or whatever, is not an issue. Traffic is redirected and life goes on.

The problem is very simple, Ebay is trying to create a synthetic, pay to play system which isn't working well for anyone, not buyers, sellers, or Ebay itself judging by their stock which is down approx. 45% since last year 11-15-2021. Buyers, sellers, as well as investors are loosing confidence in the brand.

It is the same model that ruined Google search. Google, as I am sure you remember, back in the 90's and early 2000's was a fantastic search engine. Almost 100% organic search results. In fact Google use to be the ambassador of Organic. I remember reading Matt Cuts blog daily in the early 2000's thinking, what fantastic company. Fast Forward to Today, all top search results go out to the highest bidder of a keyword or phrase. Search results are so manipulated it's blatantly obvious. In the end people will just move on. In Google's case they have a ton of additional services which saved them, Ebay doesn't have that luxury.

It's unfortunate, Ebay has been given an opportunity to be that beacon of light. It's given countless people the ability to become something more. Unfortunately that light seems to be fading for a lot of people.

Don't get me wrong, I still have a desire to succeed on Ebay and I still have hope that they turn things around. Only time will tell.
