Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

Hi,

Is anyone else having issues with the ebay site crashing on their computer? This mainly is occurring when I load up a large search.

Any recommendation on what to do? I've already deleted cache and cookies and that doesn't seem to fix the problem.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

Try disabling your ad blocker.

If that improves load times significantly, try re-enabling your ad blocker, but disable "anti-circumvention" filters in Ad Block or ABP filters in Ad Block Plus or corresponding filters in other ad blockers. Those filters are associated with problems loading sponsored listings and slow loading search results.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

What browser are you using? Is it the latest version?

Any difference if you try another browser?

It might also be worth rebooting your computer and seeing if there are any pending updates that need to be installed, particularly if you have not restarted in a while.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

Weird, I'm using chrome and that's having issues.

But I just switched over to Edge and it's working fine but with a different base-site layout.

Having the same issue as well on Desktop Chrome.  Looks like ebay went away with page and now has a load more option.  For some reason Chrome (latest version) cannot load all the data and crashes the site completely.  Unfortunately going to have to switch to Edge and see if it handles the load better.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

Using Chrome v. 113.0.5672.64

Have restarted the computer several times.  Noticed the issue not only with browsing auctions but also when attempting to search and appears to be longer load times or ebay just hangs.  No issues with any other sites.  Starting noticing the ebay lag the last few days, however didn't start to experience the chrome crashes until today.

Started using Edge and all the ebay images load with no issues and zero lag.  Has to be some ebay code/compatibility issue with Chrome.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

That did it!  I had disabled Ad Block Plus initially and everything ran smoothly.  Turned it back on but then disabled the ABP filters and retested and everything is running smoothly again.  Thanks so much for your help!

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

You are very welcome -- glad to hear that helped.

Hopefully eBay (or the various ad blockers) will correct whatever is causing this problem at some point, and then you should be able to re-enable those filters.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

Thank you!! That worked for me as well.

When I disabled ad-block, the pages started loading just fine. I went ahead and turned off the AB Filters (Anti circumvention like you mentioned), and now it seems that I'm able to use ad-block and browse the site without any lag/crashes.

I appreciate your help!! Thanks again.

Re: Ebay desktop site keeps crashing

I have been having this happen for several weeks.  First, the Ebay tech expert told me to switch from Edge to Chrome.  Did absolutely nothing.  I thought I had narrowed it down to my Norton VPN but after a while that did not help.  Once again, for many many times I have seen the kid with the orange jacket pulled over his head.  I am so tired of seeing him.  Honestly, I have lost some 30 hours of work on ebay listings just in the last month having to deal with this fixable problem.  Ebay can fix this if they want to.  We deserve better than this from Ebay.  We pay them a lot of money and it is not wrong to expect them to fix this.

@malachi-9

This thread is from 2023 and involves problems with searching, not creating listings.

Unless disabling your ad blocker allows you to list again, your issue is likely different.
