I had a buyer inbox me last night concerned about his package as the ebay tracking stated that the package was back to point of sending origin as of yesterday. I then checked it and yeah he was right, so I then went to USPS(dot)com and checked the tracking there, it actually arrived in S.F., CA last night. The today, I decided to check all the tracking for sent packages not delivered yet (about 20 or so sales) against USPS tracking and over half of the ebay tracking on those are horribly wrong, many not even stating right state a package is current in through their transit to destination.
Figured this is odd. Know ebay tracking sometimes doesn't update right away like tracking through USPS does, but never seen it like this, just completely wrong info being given, not even close to reflective to what the actual tracking on the packages are. If a buyer mailed me (which btw, never happens) because they are getting false tracking info on their order then I'm sure many other sellers are getting similar mails from buyers as well. Maybe good idea to get tech support to fix this? Sellers going to suffer bad matrix marks on their account when packages that deliver ebay tracking states otherwise?

There are already several threads about this, it's known that there have been issues with ebay's display of usps tracking since last week

yeah, i know, a known issue they continue to do nothing about, like everything else, so another thread won't make any difference.

Hi @nuclearomen - this seems odd. I've gotten this sent off for review and may reach out to you for more examples as I hear back from them.
Thanks!

Thanks for posting a reply back, appreciate it!
I got an email on my normal email from you asking for more info... but no mail in my community inbox or ebay profile inbox...
I re-checked the tracking #'s on ebay before I replied here against USPS tracking all seem right now for the packages that are still in transit as of today except one which states package is a town other then the one USPS tracking says it's in. I also checked tracking's for packages I sent out this morn and all have updated to say "USPS IN POSSESSION OF ITEM" but on those it still shows "PRE-SHIPMENT INFO SENT USPS AWAITS ITEM" as latest scan with a time stamp marked hours after the in possession scan, like said in my original post when buyer mailed me about their package, seems the scans are going in reverse. In any case when I made this post I have several more orders then I do today that were transit, a bulk of those I was seeing weird tracking for got delivered between monday and today (or they are out for delivery today still). With about 12 maybe still in transit otherwise.
For others this issue seems to have started earlier then it started with me / my orders on ebay, mine started maybe this weekend or very late last week.

How is that eBay's fault? You paid USPS to ship it and they cannot seem to figure out which way it is going. Tell your buyer you are on top of it and to please wait a few more days to see what the tracking does.

SAME! I have some angry buyers, thinking I haven't shipped their items. Nearly every package is running later than the eBay estimates. We need help!

I didn't specifically say it was ebay fault, I said that the ebay tracking info was wrong in comparison to accurate tracking info at USPS... what is causing that idk. As for the info to buyers, I told them to always check the tracking at USPS(dot)com as is up to date info. The data is shared from USPS to Ebay but as to why it isn't reflecting accurately on ebay (at least before, they seem to be right today for my shipments, other then then reverse info on newly arrived packages in USPS possession but not yet in transit). As sellers we know that ebay tracking info isn't always as fast as checking the info at USPS or Fedex/UPS and that checking the carries sites is up to date (unless they have site issues going on which they do time to time). But buyers just don't do this, they see the tracking info from ebay and assume you didn't send the package or sent it to wrong address or whatever. Again, i wouldn't say it's ebays fault but somehow the data is not sharing correctly.

I have the same exact problem with items coming to me. The shipping information does seem to be going backwards. It starts out with shipping information received and then passing through the initial station then no update for two days with the next update saying that shipping information was received and that the item is awaiting pickup.

The problem with errors in the eBay tracking system is that is leads to unfair late shipping defects for sellers. I have shipped every one of my items within my specified handling time this season, however, since eBay's tracking info does not match the true scans from USPS I am receiving unfair late shipping defects. I am having trouble rectifying this with customer service.

This is an old thread about tracking information not being properly displayed on eBay when sellers have included tracking.
Your issue as a buyer is most likely not related to this old thread; you may want to create a new thread for your issue in the future to get the best chance of a successful resolution for your own issue.
What does the tracking of your item(s) show?
eBay has a very good money back guarantee that can be invoked if tracking does not show delivery after the last estimated shipping date.
If that is not your issue, please follow up with more details either here or in a new thread elsewhere.
