I have noticed that many duplicate return policies are being created without my consent on the Ebay platform. They all follow a similar pattern, with a string of letters and numbers at the end. Example: "30 days money back 3fad18dabc12000"
This is despite being 100% certain that I have assigned my newly posted listings to an EXISTING return policy. Ebay business policy management is completely full of bugs, limitations, and horrendous functionality. I need someone from Ebay's platform team to escalate this issue immediately - small business owners should not be spending significant portions of time working around ebay platform failures and glitches.
I only have 2 return policies that I leverage: 30 day free, and 30 day buyer pays. Has anyone else experienced this issue with ebay creating arbitrary duplicative policies and having no way to reassign them? to be clear, when I do reassign them, the platform says it was successful. However, they do not move policies and thus I cant delete these new policies Ebay keeps creating. **bleep**, help!

Hey @ebooksdiva! I am sorry that you are experiencing these issues with return policies. While I do not see a reported sitewide issue on this I can open a ticket on my end and be on the lookout for a sitewide ticket to be open. In the meantime, I recommend to reach out to our customer support here so that way an individual ticket can be created for your account.

Can you please add my account to the ticket? This is a persistent issue. I am unable to correctly assign draft listings to the desired existing return policy - instead they are being added to the one Ebay created without my permission. Subsequent attempts to change the return or shipping policy for created listings to the ones I want are not working - the interface shows the listings as reassigned, however they are not, and thus I remain unable to delete the return policies Ebay created.

Hello? I am still experiencing this issue. Ebay continues to add my newly posted listings to a shipping and return policy I did not create. Reassigning the listings to the correct policy appears to work in that it says "Update Successful", however the listings are NOT in actuality reassigned and therefore the errant policies cannot be deleted. I keep seeing new policies being created and listings assigned to them, despite selecting AN EXISTING policy every time I post a listing. Please help!!

I have been having the same problem, with my sole Return policy and two shipping policies. I have even tried editing the listings individually, selecting my default return policy, but before I can save the change, it reverts to the duplicate. This is very aggravating.

I give in. The duplicate and the original Return policies are identical, and my original continues to dwindle, yesterday I had over 700 listings and today it was down to 106, so I have made the copy my default and will delete the original once the remaining listings transfer over.
And now six more of my Shipping policies have suddenly duplicated! So I'm renaming the duplicates and deleting the originals. Done.

Yes, I'm trying to correct the issue now and can't delete the policies as they're associated with listings. It's time-consuming and I can't figure out a quick workaround.

You need to create a new policy. Then bulk edit your listings to change to the new policy.
Then you can delete the old one.
