I was browsing while logged in on eBay au site yesterday with microsoft edge on windows 10 when 2 tabs popped up with out me clicking anything.
One was a redirect page
Reimage Repair
The other was
Win Errxx0051 with a load buzzer audio alarm & a fix now button
I was able to close the tab & window (of course I did not click any links/buttons/anything within the page) but it repeatedly occurred so I logged out of ebay & closed windows.
Firewall/antivirus did not detect or block nor showed any event in history log.

Although I have used many different antivirus security applications, I do not really have a good sense of how they actually compare or whether they are better than Windows Defender. I have Avast on one of my machines at home, and AVG on another, and I have not run into any issues with either. But I do not know if my internet usage is typical of most users, so perhaps I have been avoiding the sort of sites that are problematic.
Adwcleaner (from Malwarebytes) is more of a one-shot adware/malware cleaner, rather than a preventive anti-virus application. But the company Malwarebytes does also have an antivirus security application called Malwarebytes.

You may have inadvertently downloaded some adware or malware at some point. Some programs are triggered when visiting common sites such as eBay or Yahoo. It might be worth downloading a malware scanner such as Malwarebyes' Adwcleaner.

Thanks for your reply.
I am relatively new to win 10.
Most things I read online seemed to suggest Win 10 own security/firewall more than adequate & adding Norton etc. to it would just slow everything down & likely be no more secure, but several did suggest, as you did, to add Malwarebytes.
Do you have view on adding Norton or other ( I already have Norton subscription that I was using on my win 7) plus Malwarebytes or just add Malwarebytes only ?
