Dead Links - email copy of link from phone to PC, link doesn't work

I've been seeing this issue for many months now.  In short, I browse Ebay in the evening using the Ebay App on my smartphone.  When I see items I want to look closer at, I use the share function in the app to email a copy of the link to myself.

The next day I open the links on my PC.  In every case, they land on the "We've Looked Everywhere" page.   At first it seemed to happen randomly, now it appears to be a regular thing.   In all cases, when I try refreshing the page, nothing changes.  Still says "We've Looked Everywhere".

Anywhere between an hour later up to the next day, all the links work after I refresh the page.   That tells me something is going on at Ebay's end.   Has anyone reported this bug??

Personally, it amazes me how a highly advanced web services company like Ebay allows this to happen for many months.

So much for the "Ebay community" ... as is typical, another way for big companies to offload customer service rather than own the problems they create.

If the share links are not working for you, you may want to find some alternative way to keep track of individual items such as by adding those items to your Watch List, adding the item to your Cart or Saving for Later.

I just tested sharing a link from my Android phone via the eBay app, and opening the link on my PC, and the link seemed to work for me using Gmail.

The problem is on Ebay's side.  I'm an advanced user with three Win PCs/laptops and two Google Pixel phones, all running chrome.  Issue happens across the board.

The fact this clears up by itself (as described) on its own either hours or days later confirms it's an eBay issue.

As usual, getting anyone at Ebay to actually look at this is useless.

Dowia_14, if you bothered reading my post, you'd know I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE APP.

Instead it's the Chrome browser on my PC.  Everything else works fine ... browser, all tabs, all types of tabs ... every day ... all the time, EXCEPT THESE EBAY PAGES WHICH HAVE DEAD LINKS.  Anywhere from hour or several hours the pages appear as NORMAL once refreshed.

This has been HAPPENING FOR MONTHS.  OBVIOUSLY THE PROBLEM IS ON EBAY'S SIDE, but as usual corporate customer service and attention to matters such as these absolutely SUX these days.

Still seeing dead links.  For those who don't bother to read the whole post, it isn't happening on the Ebay app.  Also, the link does eventually work.  Read the post for more details.

Insanely stupid how this happens with a huge 25-30 year internet company and it can't even be communicated to them.

Because you're using the share function in the app, the assumption is the referral URL generated through the app is having problems which is why people are suggesting this could be an app issue.

Can you post a couple of the shared URLs that are not loading for you so others can test them and see if they can duplicate your results?

The problem with that approach is as said, the dead links are temporary.  Later, they suddenly work.  Sometimes it's an hour, other times longer.  Either way, that tells you the issue is on the server side.

Besides, if Ebay's own generated links are problematic, then that's indicative of how their technology is failing.  It just amazes me one of the biggest internet technology companies in the world can't get such basic stuff right.

PoS Ebay still hasn't fixed this issue.  To this day still getting the dead-link "We've Looked Everywhere" page when I forward an eBay listing over email using their own "share" function.  As always, typically the link works later ... sometimes 10-15 mins, other times an hour or more.

It's just insanely stupid how one of the largest, longest-running and so-called "advanced" web technology giants can't figure this stuff out.

Amazing.

So much for being a cutting edge web technology company.

Same problem still continues to occur.  Been going on almost a year now and PoS Ebay still hasn't or won't figure it out.

Well, I'm pretty sure I figured this out on my own, with NO HELP FROM EBAY.

The issue appears to be that Ebay has enabled a security check layer so that if you're trying to access too many auction webpages at once, the website asks you to perform a security validation check.

What stupid Ebay doesn't realize is how Power Users like me shop and interact with auction items.  In a single sitting I'll view a hundred or more items via the Android Ebay App.  Anytime I see something interesting, I send the link from the Ebay app to my home email.  That way, I can look review all the items on my desktop more closely and research anything as necessary.

However, what Ebay doesn't consider is that once I'm at my desktop, I might open 20-30 or more links one by one.  In the process, rather than initiating multiple security checks, apparently Ebay is sending me to a DEAD LINK page that says "We Looked Everywhere".

In other words, one of the leading internet technology companies of the world has developed a greater understanding of bots, scammers and what not rather than its own customers.  Pffft.  What's even more pathetic is not a single soul in this forum had any idea of this which shows how useless it really is.
