What version of Chrome are you using?
I am able to sign in without any problems using Chrome 88.
Check to make sure it is a recent version and that JavaScript is indeed enabled:

I seem to recall a similar message about JavaScript that prevented some users from signing in. Refreshing the page may get you past the error, but if it persists you may be able to use an incognito browser window to sign in.
Some extension can cause sign-in issues, try disabling ad blockers and privacy extensions such as Disconnect.
Trying another browser -- preferably a new one with no extensions or add-ons -- might be a good idea.
