Can't get past CAPTCHA page

I set up an account on dBay; however, when I try to make a bid on a purchase, it won't let me past the CAPTCHA page.  Any ideas?

Try another browser to rule out browser issues.

 

There are many things that can interfere with Captcha verification.

 

Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems are due to using an old browser or obsolete cookies (though not always). Some users are just annoyed by verification; while others actually get stuck in a loop that just keeps presenting new sign-in pages or new verification pages, or just will not let them sign in at all.

 

Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies. Try another browser or another device, or a private or incognito browser session. If you delete your cookies, you will likely have to sign in and go through strict verification again, but if you have problems with a blocked or corrupt cookie, manually deleting your eBay cookies can help. Some browsers seem to require more verification than others; try signing in and out more than once to see if it requires verification the second time around.

 

Make sure your browser has javascript enabled:

VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one and are encountering problems. Privacy add-ons like Ghostery or Disconnect can also cause issues.

 

Blocking tracking cookies or third-party tracking can also interfere with verification; see if you can disable that feature on the sign-in page or on the verification page.

 

If possible, try bidding using the eBay app on a mobile device.

Select the appropriate images carefully.

Or get a different browser, I use Firefox and don't get those Captcha issues.

Ebay needs to fix this problem. Constantly I have this Captcha problem trying to buy items and I CANNOT buy. So I have to wait or come back another day. This is BAD for ebay business. Why are you doing this to buyers?

If none of the suggestions in this thread help, try using another device or another network connection. If you are using a mobile browser, try changing to a different browser mode: mobile, classic or desktop. Try a desktop browser or a mobile browser in desktop mode.

 

Or try using the eBay app.

 

If you contact eBay directly, mention ALERT15299 to have your account added to the open ticket.

Not sure what is the issue but I tried clearing cookie the re-login.  Not work.  Switched to Microsoft Edge worked.   I was using FF latest version.   Had this some problem before but, went away, then come back this time.

Instead of clearing all your cookies in Firefox, try manually erasing just your eBay cookies. If a cookie is blocked or corrupted, clearing all cookies at once may not work -- at it will also force you to sign back in to each account for all the sites you regularly use.

 

Manually erasing just your eBay cookies may work better, unless the problem is with your specific settings, or a conflict with an add-on.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried 3 different browsers (chrome, firefox, opera), turned off all extensions, turned off vpn, deleted cookies, and cleared cache. I've even tried signing in with Google and signing in with pw. Yet I'm still having the problem no matter what.

 

Thing is, the problem is inconsistent. I'll be using a browser doing various things for a long while and then suddenly I get stuck in a security loop. Sometimes I only have to do the captcha once or twice, other times it never ends. So I'll give up and try one of the other browser that had earlier stopped working. It will work for awhile and it does the same thing. That is the only consistent thing about it.

If you use a VPN, simply turning it off once you encounter a problem may not be sufficient. Once eBay detects an issue with your network IP-address, you may need to take additional steps to sign out, clear any eBay cookies in your browser, and then sign in from an entirely different IP-address (possibly using a different browser with no eBay cookies) without using the problematic VPN.
