Hi all,
I've been using eBay for many years, but I'm new to the forum. Before posting this, I did a search looking for a thread about eBay dark mode. There were a few, dating to 2019 and mid-2020. Sheese, it's almost 2022 and there is still no dark mode native to the eBay browser?
I can't be the only one working at night on a large display where the white screen actually hurts when you've spent hours previously on an application with a proper dark mode. Ouch!
What say ye, eBay community, shouldn't we have a dark mode option?
Perhaps if we all speak up a bit!
Thanks - Mr. Joey

No need to punish your eyes just because eBay has not added a native dark mode. There are other options.
There are third-party browser plug-ins you can use in many desktop and some mobile browsers, such as Dark Reader or Night Eye.

This is not a viable solution and should not be marked as resolved. Primarily because I shouldn't need to rely on a 3rd party solution for something that has been a standard feature on most major websites since ~2018. This is a very minimal ask of a company the size of eBay. Secondly, I see major slowdowns when using the extension/add-ons you've mentioned. It's usually only about 3-5 seconds but that adds up very quickly over time. I'm not alone on this either, if you check the reviews for those extensions, you will see others with the same issues.
Ebay clearly knows this is an important features users want, otherwise they wouldn't have added it to the mobile app. The problem is that ebay has continued to neglect to add any meaningful updates to the desktop UI and UX.

I agree. This is total **bleep**. Where are my 13%+ seller fees going. Certainly not to any customer service jobs. They make billions of dollars off of us and can't make a dark mode. This is absurd!

They have the money to do this making billions per year in profit. They simply don't care about their customers. Their lack of customer service over the phone proves they don't care at all. It's absurd.

Yes, please add option for Dark Mode!
It is too bright!
Really noticeable when watching shows on the other screen and browsing Ebay during boring parts.

It's pathetic its the year 2023 almost 2024 and ebay has refused to give into a dark mode theme.

Some of us DESPERATELY need dark mode, I have extreme eye sensitivity and cannot use the white screen for more than 15 minutes without developing a migraine that will take me out for the entire day. I have tried the work arounds and extensions but they don't really work, there's lots of things here and there that the extensions black out that I need access to. I send feedback daily on the subject and have for months, the only way to get them to actually help us with this is if you all do the same. Mention it on EVERY survey you do about the site. Click on the feedback on the web pages and give them your two cents about the subject EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm tired of them wasting the sh*t ton of money they make off our backs and hard work by spending it on features that less than 1% of sellers will ever use and features that don't work, like the photo editing tool that is worse than 1990's photo editing software, like what? how much money did you spend on photo editing that doesn't actually do anything?

What makes you think eBay's eventual implementation of a dark mode would be better than all of the existing extensions and workarounds?
Wouldn't it make sense to find the best extension or best browser with a built-in dark mode theme and use that now while you are waiting for eBay to get its act together? When you encounter something that does not display correctly, you can turn off the extension to get the info you need, then turn it back on.
I use a browser extension called "Color Changer" in Firefox that allows me to set background color, text and link colors independently via a color wheel, then enable that on individual sites and quickly enable/disable via a toolbar icon. The implementation is not perfect -- some icons like the notification bell can lose highlight colors, and from time to time I have to disable the add-on to get an image in a popup to display correctly -- but it is likely much better than anything eBay would implement, and the other 99.9% of the time it makes reading much more comfortable compared to using a stark white background.
