Dear Ebay,
I would like you to tighten up the filtering process when I am shopping on ebay for a product. Especially when it applies to clothing. For example, when I look for suits, or shirts, or shoes. I specify in the filters menu, the size, the fit, the material, the condition, but Ebay will show me the specifics, but then add blazers, different sizes and materials, and pre-owned items even if I specify I just want new or new without tags. It is very misleading and leads to purchasing items by mistake. I get it that you just want to sell so you can make more money, but you can not trust the filtering system to actually work.
I have purchased many things and sold many things on Ebay, but your filtering system is terrible and misleading.
Thank you,
James Evans

Hi @pincegato . When you apply a New or New Without Tags filter, it should never pull in preowned items. I'm wondering if maybe the outliers are sponsored ads?
Can you post links to the search results and also post some screenshots if possible?

These Boards were established by eBay for the purpose of communication among and between eBay buyers and sellers. It's doubtful that your message will be read by anyone employed by eBay.

It's very clear to me @soh.maryl eBay reads these forums as they will frequently respond randomly to various threads, especially about tech issues. They would be fools to not read their own forums.
That said, whether or not eBay reads this specific thread, doesn't impact whether other buyers and sellers can help the original poster if more details are provided.
We may be able to see something causing the problem, or worst case scenario, advise the best method of reporting the problem if there really is a tech issue.
I'd prefer to not discourage someone that came here asking for help as we often can help them.

Thank you for your input. Will keep that information in mind.

Filters are only as good as the data input. GIGO
If I have a cat figurine for sale and include an item specific as a dog, then when you search for a dog, my cat figurine will also appear.
Same with clothes. If I was a clothing seller and wanted a lot of my items to appear in search, all I have to do is input a bunch of different sizes into the item specifics, whether correct or not, just so it comes up in search.
