Any idea how to fix this error?  I cannot reply to a seller I just made a purchase from in messages?

this just happened to me in firefox browser when I went to sign out ... this page came up:

Then it would not let me open ebay.com, but I was able to open ebay.com in google chrome and I pasted this question thread over to firefox and was able to circumvent the error for now in firefox by opening this thread and signing in.

Try contacting the seller directly from the seller's feedback or profile page if you are still having problems sending or repling to a message. Make sure you are signed in to the same eBay account used to make the purchase, and check that the seller is still registered and the item is still listed.

If you are prompted for an item number and get an error, try using the "not about an item" option if it is presented.

Or if you have eBay messages sent to your email, try replying directly to the email rather than using the blue reply button inside the message itself.

Hey @rich77535 and @hammerscastle-1776. I get that error a lot, almost always early in the morning. The options suggested by @eburtonlab generally work around the issue, but if you're still stick, wait half an hour and try again. Usually the issue clears up.

Are you also sending or replying to a message when you get that error? Which pages have you tried using?
