Went to my listings page to check on inventory and noticed some strange numbers under the "available quantity" column. Huge numbers that I did not input... in fact, many seemed to mirror the number sold. This seemed to affect approximately 10% of the listings... the others were fine. Has this happened to anyone else? I went to the listing page and it did show that large number available as well... which could have been inconvenient if someone actually tried to buy 44pcs of my stock that I only had 4 of!

I'm not in these rooms much(thankfully), but doesn't an ebay rep usually respond pretty quick with possible solutions? This is a massive issue, I was up much of the night last night fixing mine after I finally figured out exactly what you said that they basically added back all sold items so I just subtracted. But on a 240 variation auction that's at least 30 minutes of fixing. I had to take my store down for a day just avoid even more short sales. Yes they said they'd remove the defect, but a buyer won't care, they came to me for something I showed to have and I shorted them. They probably won't come back. So frustrating.

Good morning @andrealee00. We're currently aware of a site wide Alert (14709) that is impacting sellers and are working to get this resolved quickly. Please reach out to customer service to be added to their ticket, as an SR Number is required that we cannot provide. This issue has been added to the tech board as well.

elizabeth@ebay what is being done for transaction defects due to this? I had to cancel three orders which all got defects. I called and spoke to a CSR before this was a widely known issue.

You can request defect removal citing Alert (14709)
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling/seller-performance-overview/appeal-defect?id=4871
However, this new announcement may indicate automatic defect removal:
On May 26, 2023 an update was made to listings with international shipping options. As part of this recent change, we inadvertently increased the quantity on some listings.
We understand that this may have caused sellers to cancel orders or issue refunds but we’re working to correct these quantity errors. Here’s what you need to know about the recent update:
- We’ve updated any listing to show the correct quantity available and quantity sold.
- For listings where sellers manually revised the quantity, we won’t make any changes.
- For sellers who had to cancel orders, received negative feedback, or had stockout strikes during our update, we’ll ensure that their seller rating isn’t affected.

Good morning @jbcoutfitters. You can call them back now that the issue is known and they can process that removal for you. However, @shipscript makes an excellent callout that if a decision is made to remove them in bulk automatically, the agent will let you know that as well.

Man, doesn't seem very unapologetic. Oh well, I put my account on hold for a day to fix b/c I'd rather do that then sell a ton and have to cancel and create that disaster. I've already had to call a few times to remove defects that are trickling in from the first few days. Now it's always in the back of my mind even if they remove the defects does it hurt my status in searches.

Curious if anyone who cancelled orders using the "out of stock" reason due to this issue has been refunded the $0.30 per transaction fee?
Normally that fee is not refunded for that reason and eBay's announcement about seller protections didn't mention it. 🤔

Hello everyone. We just wanted to provide an update that credits will be automatically processed back to affected sellers for the .30 cent fee so sellers will not need to reach out for that. The anticipated date of those credits being processed is early next week.
Have a great day!
