Authorize.net not processing

I process my ebay payments through authorize.net and received this message.

In support of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) requirement to remove support for version 1.0 & 1.1 of the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, Authorize.Net will disable TLS 1.0 and 1.1 on February 28th, 2018. In order to avoid any interruption in transaction processing, please contact your payment solution provider and web hosting company to confirm that they fully support TLS 1.2 by February 28th, 2018. For more information, ask a Customer Service representative or see our TLS FAQs page at support.authorize.net.

Now, as of today, 3/1, my buyers have gotten errors that their payments are not going through.  Has this happened with anyone else today. I talked to authorize and they seem to think the TLS was not updated on ebay's end.

Re: Authorize.net not processing

I just had another buyer this evening 3/3  not able to pay/purchase. They told me Ebay is "not allowing me to hit the buy it now, it just has a payment options that says payment is not supported by the site....."

Re: Authorize.net not processing

I have also had this problem, and the last payment that processed correctly was on 02/27. My buyers are seeing no error message, and their payments are not being transferred to authorize.net for approval. They are stuck as pending, and not being verified. I spoke with many people, and (finally and at last) the last woman I spoke with this morning stated she was aware of the problem, she noted it a couple of days ago, and ebay is working on it. I hope it's fixed soon, and I recommend you contact them asap to be sure you add your account to the repair ticket.

"there was a tech guy told me that they dont have a exact time to finish the update"

Amazing!!................How much advance notice did they have? Months? A year?

That they consider themselves a tech company is laughable.

Re: Authorize.net not processing

Same here. Ebay advises to invoice from authorize.net however they dont undertand that the buyers will simply reject completion of a transaction outside eBay. Not everyone is familiar what is authorize.net. It is really crazy that such a large company as Ebay did not have any knowledge that one of their major payment gateway is updating APIs. It's hard to believe.  To not add that they are not even supporting credit card payments on Mobile App.

Its really frustrating...

Re: Authorize.net not processing

....and how can we invoice directly if ebay does not allow email addresses to be exchanged?

Re: Authorize.net not processing

You can't send an invoice if the buyer is unable to make a purchase. I had 2 buyers tell me that when they press the buy it now tab they get a message  "payment is not supported by the site".

I have not had a sale since last Tuesday, 2/27. I have had 2 buyers contact me about not being able to make a purchase. I wonder how many tried to buy an item then just gave up.

I had an ebay account get perm banned after a rep suggested for me to invoice from authorize.net because a customer complained about it. So I suggest not doing that

Re: Authorize.net not processing

hey cooter_slick, in the case you are describing, there are two workarounds we have come up with for buy it now items:

first, if the buyer sends you an email from the "ask seller a question" button in the listing, there is a "reply with offer" button in the email you receive - you can send them an offer (it can be the same price as the buy it now price, we usually do a penny less just in case). they can accept the offer without having to "buy it now," and they will not be forced to enter credit card payment immediately. you can then invoice them through authorize.net, with the appropriate disclaimers to put them at ease - assuring them that this transaction is taking place fully within ebay, that ebay fully governs the transaction, etc. - which in any case is all true.

we also send them a link to this forum, so they can see that this is a known problem and everything is on the level.

it takes a lot of explaining - in our experience, most buyers understand and will work with you, some will just not want to hear it or can't be bothered.

second, you can enable "make an offer" on the item the buyer is interested in; they can then make an offer (again, we like to do it for a penny less than the stated price) and you can accept the offer - in which case they are not required to pay immediately, and then they can be invoiced in the same way as above.

retopopdvd - once the buyer makes the purchase, their email address is in the "your ebay item sold" email.

Re: Authorize.net not processing

buyers are now expressing their concerns that a non-payment case will be opened against them, because they are receiving the "reminder" to pay emails from ebay .

we reassure them that no such action will be taken, as it is not their fault that payment cannot be tendered.

this issue is going on day 6, we are spending more and more time explaining an issue that we did not cause and figuring out how to run our business with no money coming in, instead of spending our time constructively bringing more items to market.

customers will only be so patient before they start looking elsewhere, ebay please get this resolved ASAP!

Re: Authorize.net not processing

Thanks thingzlimited ,

I tried the offer workaround  twice already thinking it would take it out of immediate payment and I could send an invioce directly from Authorize.net.

It did'nt work.

The first time I upped the price on the item and told the buyer to offer the previous buy it now price and I would approve it.

He still could not purchase it.

I sent an offer to the second buyer that could not make the purchase and I never heard back from him.

Re: Authorize.net not processing

hi cooter_slick,

i was hoping that information would be helpful to you - sending offers and having buyers make offers has worked so far for us, it allowed the buyer to purchase the item without having to pay immediately.

of course, some buyers have not responded at all and we are afraid they may have been "scared off" by the request to do something they don't mormally do.
