American restricted from buying ITAR items

I've bought a lot of firearms parts over the years, but last week I tried to buy a spring for my pistol and it sent me to an ITAR restricted item page. I've never been associated with a non-US address, had anything shipped outside the US, or shipped anything outside the US. I also have my SSN registered with eBay.
I cleared cookies/cache and logged out, tried to buy a random spring from another seller, same issue. Tried it with a variety of other similar items from various sellers and all trigger this ITAR restriction.
I contacted eBay support last week asking for help with this, they said they had to escalate the issue and it'd be resolved within 24 hours, but it's been a week nothing's different.
Are there any weird fixes I can try, like changing my address to something else and back or anything remotely like that which could help resolve this situation? Because eBay support doesn't seem to know how to fix the errors on their site.

Re: American restricted from buying ITAR items

In case anybody else had the same problem as me; VPN IP from New Jersey? Pennsylvania? Delaware? Doesn't matter that it's a domestic IP address. eBay seems to be restricting your ability to use the site to punish users for caring about their security and privacy.

Re: American restricted from buying ITAR items

It's possible it's an VPN issue. I'm in a border state (WA) but all mine seem to be routed through servers in Oregon. Maybe if I lived closer to the border my connection might be routed through a server on the other side.

Your IP adress is what VPN's conceal so having a domestic one wouldn't show up.

Re: American restricted from buying ITAR items

If the item you're trying to purchase is actually ITAR, then you need to have some controls in place to assure the defense article isn't accessed by foreign persons here in the USA or overseas. If the DDTC deems you as a manufacturer or exporter/importer of defense articles, then you also must be registered with DDTC. ITAR regulations are complex. Please be very careful!!
