Pottery Pot with small handles & spout - purpose and maker?

Pretty sure this is US made - but I can't figure out what it was for or who made it. It looks like it must fit onto someting else with the "notched" spot on the back. Any ideas?

5 1/4" tall x 2 5/8" diameter at the opening

Base and glaze look like Zanesville Stoneware Co. Not sure about the form.

Thanks for the lead! I can't find the shape in my Zanesville book, but using that as a search I finally found out what it's for - a small batter jug without the handle or lid, possibly a salesman's sample.
