Green pottery bowl marked Gates Chicago? Teco or another pottery? help?

found at garage sale in 1990. just been sitting in a cabinet. Does anyone know anything about this bowl? Marked Gates Chicago. I have two of these they are identical 7 inches by 3 inches high

Are you sure it doesn't read "Bates"?

Yes, Bates--a lot of these out there but no information.
