i think its a bunch of crap that payments that are getting processed takes till the very last minute of the day it is to be available on. i know what it is, eBay holds the money for as long as possible because every second the money available to you, its available to eBay. So they're making money off of my money being "processed" not to mention the outrageous fees for no reason other than the value. they want a chunk of your pie before you even get to taste it....I feel it should be one flat fee to post an item up for sale. it shouldn't matter if its a $1 or $1000. I just hate losing MY money just because its worth more money. that is greed on your part eBay...and to top it off, you get charge (well taxed) on shipping! they include it in the "final" value. so they're pulling this imaginary extra value from nowhere...isn't that taxation without representation?

and just how would that work?
eBay has to make money, and they will charge whatever to make what they want.
By your theory someone should pay the same fee to sell a $1 item another pays to sell a $1,000 item.
What would the fee be?
For me........ a "classified ad" type of fee basing would knock out probably like 75% of my selling.

We list with the approximate fees clearly defined by policy. Representation is not a factor. Sell or don't sell with the sandbox rules that are presented.

Every credit card is backed by a bank/finance company and every one of them take a DIFFERENT amount of time to process.
Best thing to do- get over it and quit worrying about things you cannot control (and ebay not only CANNOT control how long it takes, but ebay is NOT the processor so they make NO MONEY!)

I get a payout once a week, so could care less most of the time if it takes 2 minutes, 2 hours, or 2days for the payment to process.
When I worked, I had to wait to get paid. Monday- Sunday pay week. Didn't get paid until "payday Wednesday". Why wasn't I paid at the end of each shift. In the military I got paid once a month. Government kept my money getting all the interest on it while I waited to get paid.
When I get fuel at the gas station the payment is not instant to them. They should be yelling at the credit card service about the payment pending when I have driven away with their fuel.
Pick up, cash only, no wait for payment to process.

eBay's final value fee is on the buyer's total payment. If you don't agree then don't sell it here.
Tax on shipping is because the state it's going to requires it. eBay doesn't keep it. That $ goes to the state.

So you would be okay with paying $20.00 on an item that sold for 10 bucks?

"..isn't that taxation without representation?"
"Taxation without representation" is a phrase that describes the idea of being forced to pay taxes by a government without having a say in how that government is run. It was a slogan used by American colonists during the American Revolution to describe their grievances against the British Parliament.

the reason there is a tax on the shipping is because people perhaps not unlike yourself thought it was a crafty way to circumvent the ebay fee's by selling a item for a dollar and charging a $40 shipping fee. so ya there is a tax on shipping, you can thank the others that tried it before you came along.
There are other platforms to sell on, ebay is not the only player out there.
AND truth be told you do actually get paid before ebay does, payment processing normally takes 2-3 days, you have your money in 24 hours.
