@cstpos @heckofagame how does one check if they're an established seller? I've only sold 7 items and not consistently so I presume I am not an 'established buyer'.
Basically, trying to sell a 16" macbook pro (listing here) and got an offer at full listing price - buyer account is based in Australia (don't want to tag them since they might see this - lastly, the offer says to ship to Sarasota, Florida...
Quick things I noticed about buyer acct:
TLDR; I know selling a computer is a risky endeavor on this platform, especially a $2.1K listing (at least for me that a good amount of money). Don't want to get scammed. Any suggestions? Maybe offer local pickup instead but would be clutch if this worked out.
Thanks for any advice/help!!!!!

Until you've been selling for 90 days and sold 25 items your payments will be held until tracking shows delivered, or in 21 days if there's no tracking. They can hold the payment for the full 21 days if you're selling in a high risk category.
You can ask for the restrictions to be removed or modified every 30 days.

@femmefan1946 thank you for the response - I am sending a video to the buyer now, since he said he would send payment immediately.
my ebay account says under the offer - "We’ll alert the buyer to pay when you accept their offer, and you’ll get paid within 4 days."
So i think I might be safe...well I did list USPS Priority Express so they'll get it in 2 days, and could then file a claim against me, and I'd have to dispute before the money is released to me.

If you check the Sarasota FL address you may find that the address is a freight forwarder. (clues- near the airport or docks, in an industrial park or strip mall, and obviously the
This would be a Good Thing, because most of the Money Back Guarantee does not apply to item sent to third parties for re-shipment.
Although the MBG for Not As Described disputes does still apply, you are only required to supply return postage from the forwarding address not from Brazil or Jamaica or Germany. Then the forwarder has to (be paid by the buyer to) use the label to return the item to your before refunding.
The demand for a video would be, in my opinion, demanding something not in the listing, which is an acceptable reason for refusing the sale.
And frankly wanting a video would already have told me that this would not be a good transaction and I would have replied "Thank you for your interest in this item. I do not believe I can fulfill your requests and consider this to mean that you do not want to complete the transaction." and then cancel "At Buyer Request".
my ebay account says under the offer - "We’ll alert the buyer to pay when you accept their offer, and you’ll get paid within 4 days."
Yes.
But
The payment will be Held as described above because you are an occasional seller and don't have much of a track record.
But.
You will be required to ship when EBAY gets the payment.
Usually this is not a problem, and I regard forwarders as safer than street addresses (no porch pirates) but that demand for a video, which proves nothing, is a red flag to me.
What it means is that if the customer does NOT pay within four days, you can open an Unpaid Item Claim and get any fees back, cancel the transaction, and the deadbeat gets a Strike.

Quick things I noticed about buyer acct:
- 13K seller feedback reviews - all older than a year / nothing in the prev. 12 months.
- ~180 buyer feedback reviews - all older than a year / nothing in prev. 12 months
- 'About me' section on buyer profile states:
- HI VENDOR, THANK YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS, PLEASE BE INFORMED THAT I WILL NEED TO CONFIRM THE CONDITION OF THE ITEM VIA A SHORT VIDEO/PICTURES SENT TO MY MAIL (email address redacted) AFTER WHICH PAYMENT WILL BE MADE IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE IF THIS DOES NOT GO WELL WITH YOU KINLY CANCEL THE ORDER
- Emailed them this AM and they responded asking for pictures or videos to check condition. I want to ask them to facetime.

^^^^ @rubeguard
That message is from a scammer.
He gave you an email address and after you send a video or pictures or whatever, he will send you a fake "receipt" for payment hoping you'll send the computer and he'll get a free laptop and you'll get NO MONEY!

@femmefan1946 wow thank you for taking the time to write all of that out - really appreciate it. I agree, lots of red flags - will be canceling and continue trying to sell. Thank you and have a great day.
Also, when I asked him to facetime or hop on a zoom call he left my email on read (use a tracking service).

@albertabrightalberta Thank you. Appreciate your response and helpfulness. I will be rejecting the offer. Have a great day.

Before you ship anything, check your ebay account for payment. I don't think you'll see it.

You will be getting the funds since your feedback from the buyer indicates complete satisfaction! But ebay still holds the money and patience is a frustrating virtue!

@rubeguard Hi. My response was edited by the ebay moderator, not me. Femmefan and alberta both gave excellent advice. I would send the message and cancel as Buyer requested.
You can upload a video to your listings (not sure about adding them in a reply to a message). I would make sure to always communicate through ebay messaging. That way, there will be proof what was agreed between you. You can also show the serial number of the item you're selling, in pics or on video.
Best of luck selling!
