Got an email saying in part: eBay has created a simpler and more modern billing process to pay your eBay fees and expenses. Beginning in late March, eBay will phase out the billing of selling fees and expenses via a monthly invoice. Instead, eBay will collect fees and other expenses, such as those resulting from refunds, claims or disputes directly from your earnings. If your earnings are not sufficient to cover these amounts, we will charge your payment method on file (debit or credit card, and/or linked bank account).
I"ve always used my PayPal account to pay the monthly bill. If they are going to collect every little fee constantly do you think they want us to stop getting payouts regularly so there is always money in Managed Payments for fees or will they ding a card or bank account every 5 minutes?
Maybe the "every 5 minutes" would only be right after a payout, until money hits the Managed Payments account from sales?
Maybe I am overthinking it?

You're not overthinking it. I haven't received the email yet, so I assume (?) I'm in the later group/phase. One thing for sure, eBay prefers cash on the barrelhead. Ay, yi, yi...

You just got to love the **bleep** cooperate speak about "simpler and more modern billing process". Although I am not surprised by this action the pettiness and greed is still astonishing. I guess their growth is still anemic compared to other online retailers and all they are left with is to increase fees and to maximize interest on payments.

Been like this for many months for me, but then again I've been in MP for 2 years, so maybe got it early. I freakin' LOVE this change. I always hated a several thousand $ 'bill' at the end of each month.

When it comes to ebay, "simpler and more modern billing process" really means "arbitrary and barbaric".
I 100% guarantee that this will cause more problems for sellers and financial errors in ebays favor and NEVER the other way around.
Ebay is in serious desperation mode as they become more and more irrelevant in the world of online sales. They are just too arrogant to realize or admit that it is due to the way they treat their paying customers.

I got it too I am worried when they will take out our store fees. That's a big charge to take whenever they feel like

I just got the message, and I'm still trying to process what it all means. I had thought Managed Payments would simplify my accounting, but it does not seem so, and this seems like it may make it harder yet.

In April they are going to change the payouts to Yearly to simplify your bookkeeping.

I posted about it over in the Payments section too. Here's what the email said for anyone who hasn't gotten it yet.

Do we assume that the sellers getting this email now are 'Phase 1' (or whatever) and there will still be a 'Phase 2'?

@mtgraves7984 I am making no assumptions at this point when it comes to eBay, especially with Managed Payments. 🤣
But if it helps at all, based on Managed Payments activation date and store subscription date, I was a ii according to this.
It may still be a "roll out" but I suspect there won't be much time between "phases" if there is - eBay clearly wants to get this done ASAP. I do not believe the end of 1st quarter timing is unintentional or insignificant.

They could at least have the decency to not act like they're doing sellers a favor while they screw them over. They just want their money out of people faster. They were already harassing sellers to pay their invoice as soon as it was sent out when it wasn't even due for 30 days. How about actually do something for sellers like make being a top rated seller ACTUALLY worth something
