I got a message from eBay saying to update my account details.
"It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay
Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps."
I primarily just tend to leave all the money I receive in my PayPal, so I wanted to ask for clarification: does this mean sellers can no longer use PayPal as a means of payment? We have to store the money in a bank account now?
I also saw something saying eBay raised their fees. Is that also true?
Thanks for clarifying.

The federal government (i.e. domestic regulation) has to follow international trade rules, which may literally nullify democracy in some of the worst cases. The world is putting a lot of its expectations into e-commerce, which is lagely based on free and open source software. Which has created a whole lot of wealth as well as utility. One has to make a sort of leap of faith in hoping that it will all turn out well. We all have a responsibility to work towards that outcome in good faith and not force impossible situations on others. We're on a train thats barreling forwards. Where will it bring us? It may be totally different than where we think. Never before has so much wealth been being funneled to so few people.

Because ebay is a web application. Anybody who interacts with the site is interacting with a web app. Which we're all used to doing by now. Its not rocket science. Companies can totally decide how user friendly and how much sense their products make to customers. In that respect they are corporation's wet dream as they can be as flexible or inflexible as they want. They could all be much better than they are.
Who is paying for the creation of the software to run the program and the maintenance of it?
But I think you are dwelling a bit too much on the actual costs to Ebay to collect and process sales tax as being a big issue. That is just my opinion, nothing more. But it isn't the driving factor in MP or its fees. Certainly information to be aware of, but still not the main thing. They wanted to move to a Simplified Fee format. To do so they had to come up with a formula to be used on the entire amount of money received.

It takes days to receive the money from the customer. I got an order last week and the money still isn’t in my account. I won’t be selling on eBay anymore.

Hi
After ebay dropped paypal I put in my checking account number so ebay would make payments there.
The payments have never made it to my checking account and all I get is error messages.

Personally I opened up a new checking account just for ebay. Makes it a lot easier to keep track of things.

Very good post, I too am wondering what happens when I buy something and it isn't "as described" .
How will I be covered for a return.
If there is no "back-up" plan for covering transactions that go wrong I'm out as well.
If E-bay is indeed dropping this protection AND razing their fees, I too am out.
Been a good run, but that's enough for me to go to other venues.
Just my $2 worth.

"I have no intention of waiting around for "five to seven days"--or longer to be paid for a sale, yet having to mail out the orders immediately or receive a "defect" from kindly old ebay. "
Well said. I'm out as well.

This is happening to me again now, I cannot successfully select PayPal and check out. So my shopping session ends up being a waste of time for me if I cannot check out.

I've attempted to. Ive never had why this happen explained to me. As far as Paypal is concerned my account is in fine shape. They are not saying I owe them anything. I always pay promptly when I win an auction.

Checkout certainly has changed for me. If life has taught me one thing its to believe my own eyes and NOT what somebody in a political office, TV or on the Internet most of all the Internet tells me to believe.
>"Nothing for buyers has changed"
Before I could check out with my purchases, now I can't.

What if I am right, should they still tell me I am wrong if I'm not? And We're supposed to depend on this so called digital economy?"

Thats so they can claw back the money they sent poor working people direct from their bank account?
https://norberthaering.de has a lot on this cashless takeover of peoples financial lives. Why are the Internet companies behaving this way, are they expecting something bad to happen?
