200+/- transactions in the sneaker category with 0 items being returned as inauthentic, my reward is to now have payments held? eBay recently made this change over the last week or two from what I can tell. However I never received notice of a change to their terms of service.

This is not new. If you are a new seller or have not sold for a while, you will be under the rules for a new seller until you reestablish yourself.

Let’s start again. I have been selling on eBay for 7 years but increased about a year before eBay implemented authenticity guarantee for sneakers. So for the last 2 years and about 200 sales I’ve not had one returned as item not described or inauthentic. However 2 weeks ago my payments started being held until the pair I sell passes the authentication step. So with no cause I'm being rewarded for being a decent seller with payment holds. How does this make sense?

Since you're dropshipping and you have no idea what will be shipped, they want to make sure the money is there if they have to refund.

Absolutely ridiculous. The money is paid by the buyer send the payout fools. I thought I had an excess of funds come to find out there's a hold on the funds, I've never had any items come back not authentic. I have 90 transactions from 2019 to 2023 not that many but this is no doubt due to people using proxies and bots.

If you haven’t sold in a while, eBay will treat you like a new or infrequent seller and hold your funds for up to 30 days. Payments on hold

Did u ever find out why they put your funds on hold. I'm in the same ssituation. I've only been selling since April buy I've done a good amount of sneakers. Long story short I haven't had to wait to get my money I just went t//through the regular process till today I sold some air air force one and now they said I can't get my money till they get authenticated. So I'm confused on what I've done wrong. Let me know if you found out n e thing
