Hello all! I’ve been trying to update my info to comply with the newest policy that requires an ID and bank statement. They accepted my ID with no qualms, but are refusing to accept my bank statement. This is the fourth time I’ve sent it in via both PDF and .jpg. It has all of the information they need (name and address, bank name, transaction details, last 4 of account, less than 3 months old) but the system still won’t accept it. Anyone else have this problem and/or know how to resolve it?

UPDATE: I chatted with en eBay rep, who helped me clear up exactly what was needed to meet the requirements. They’re different than what the inbox messages say (thanks, eBay,) and are as follows: 1) full name and address matching the one on your account, 2) the name AND logo of the issuing bank, 3) transactions from somewhere in the previous three months, 4) FULL account number, not just the last four digits. I had to email my bank for a copy which matched these criteria, got one in about three days, and eBay accepted in within one. The rep also said this new requirement helps keep them within the law regarding some money laundering act or another, and I hear that it may also be used for a new requirement that sellers who make over $600 in a calendar year must report where the sold items came from, and prove if there was a profit. All of that aside, it took a while but I got the problem solved and am back to selling.

You can not send a PDF.
Are you altering the statement in any way?
Not sure but I think it needs to have your entire account number.

Needs your entire bank account number. Me, for instance, use a Credit Union and therefore have a 'member number' which is only a portion of the checking acct. number (because we also have savings accounts etc. on the statement); so I had to send them a 'voided check'.
Then the check was a bank issued check so it did not have the little 'lock' in the upper right hand corner, so it was also 'not accepted'.
So, I had to 'order' checks (the only way to get the little lock) and submit that. Took a while. Luckily it was all being done well before I had to do it.

Thanks for your reply! In the message I get from them, it tells me that it must have at least the last 4 of the account number. In the submission portal, the guidelines say the system can accept .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .pdf, and .png. Regardless, I also sent it in as a .jpg so there should be no problem.

In the messages I got; I would respond back even though it didn't seem that you could or that anyone would reply; but they would within a few days each and every time; this went on for about 3 weeks.

Is it defnitely a check account ? Does your name match exactly between your eBay account and check account.

Yes to both.

Does your checking account number have 13 digits? Anything shorter can be an issue for some reason.

We’re you able to meet their requirements? I have now sent entire bank statement for 5th time. Awaiting answer. From reading replies to your question, no one else seems to have experienced this problem. At one point the rep from EBay told me thAt I could not use my joint banking account as it had me name and my husbands. So I asked if I could put EBay acct in both names and they said no, but that was not really the problem per the agent that responded to that question. I have different agent each time. If everyone who sells had this much trouble, EBay would have no sellers.

The last 4 would be the last 4 numbers of your Social Security number, not anything to do with your bank.

So did you open a new checking account in your own name, or are you still sending the information with both names on it, expecting different results?

It is unlikely that Ebay is still taking the final 4 digits because of the threshold change that started on 1/1/2022.

Read through this, it may help.

No other company I have done business with has asked for a full bank statement with the information they're requiring just to deposit funds into your bank account. They're using the information for other purposes- selling it or? Unbelievable!
