Hello, I'm trying to use some eBay gift cards in my account, I got the codes from some friends, they earned it from micro tasks and surveys websites and gave them to me.
But when I'm at checkout, trying to pay the items, when I try to apply any of the codes, none of these works. Always says the same: We ran into a problem. Please try again later.
They usually give me amazon gift cards but this time I wanted to buy some things from eBay, yet it's not working.
I know it has nothing to do with my account since some weeks ago I bought several items with my paypal account.
What's going on? somebody knows? They had those codes for more than a week in their emails, so it has nothing to do with activation times.

Your friends were "taken for a ride" and they were nice enough to invite you come along (ebay gift cards are obviously NOT given away this way).

As far as I know, Ebay gift cards can only be used in the US, by US buyers.

Google "micro task" or "task scam" and you will see there are many scams out there that are involved.
Most do not get their money back after performing these tasks. Your friends should report this to the ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Doesn't sound like fraud.
The friends the OP got the codes from were paid, they just chose a pay out option they couldn't use in their country.

Hi Ken.
ebay.com.au (Australia) is another country that can accept gift cards if you are registered in Australia and have an Australian shipping address. Same as in the US where you need to be registered in the U.S. and shipping to a U.S address.

Just an update on this...
No, these are not scam gift cards, they gave me several more in the past, from Amazon, and I was able to redeem those and use them successfully.
The problem is eBay, in some moments when I check the balance, it says the balance is the right one, and then after trying to use it in a checkout, it fails saying the balance is 0.
