So I bought a $200 eBay gift card and it says, “We ran into a problem. Please try again later,” when I try to redeem. I went back to the target and they said they couldn’t return it or do anything since the card activates when purchased. What should I do? Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?

Go to the web site or call the number on back first to verify the balance. If an issue with the funds you need to obtain some version of transaction history for the card to find out what went wrong.

It truly is a shame that ebay has not moved to a system like amazon where, gift cards are stored in your user wallet & then spendable from there. There are items on ebay that they do not allow gift cards for payment types. Depending upon what you were trying to purchase, if item was shipping from outside the US, the payment type may also not be valid. Need more info on the item being bought.

How soon were you trying to use it after buying it?  It takes up to 4 hrs to become activated.

Also, ebay said they can't help, and target said they can't help, WELL SOMEONE HAS TO HELP ME, either ebay or target. Nobody cares about the consumer these days, they just want to pass the blame, so they don't have to lift a finger and make a phone call.  Customer service really went down the toilet these days. I even had to trick the automated ebay customer service number I called, just to speak to a human being, said I needed to speak to someone about security or something, just to talk to someone,  Because every time I said I need to speak to someone about a gift card issue kept forcing the web address on me. Oh but we care, ya my a**.   Actions speak louder than words.

You can't  call eBay. They have to give you a  pin number  through Help & Contact and they call you back. Numbers found on the internet for eBay are fake.
