So...today I received a cryptic message from eBay

The bots must me in charge of the content of messages from eBay to sellers.  I received a quite lengthy message that basically said they would be deducting $25.16 from my funds and/or bank account.

No reason why or details that would make it clear what this deduction is for.

I checked my shipping labels for a match to a FedEx label to no avail.  Since all other funds are taken at point of sale and I can no longer find invoice information that was available before I am left just plain wondering.

Am I the only one that finds it unprofessional to be so vague when taking funds from someone's business account.  There should be a reason stated or graph if multiples.

I also have received this message. I think it is because I did not have enough funds to cover the cost of my listings that eBay does. I don't like this new system because I don't know what is going on.  When Pay Pal had it I could see what they were doing .  I also like to receive an invoice from eBay and not taking money from my account every time they list an item . It is very confusing.

I believe any message as such should have the complete details of the why funds being taken out.

Or in other words a receipt of services and such that are being charged for. Itemized.

 Any were in the world but eBay.

It could be for seller fees but how are you to know? ebay should be itemizing what it is for. Just another reason why I do not do much on ebay anymore.

@babsklassykloset

Is it to cover your store subscription?

Have a great day.

It appears to be a function of Managed Payments.  You are not really allowed to carry a negative balance.  An example might be when they hit your account for your store subscription or a belated surcharge for FedEx etc. If there are not enough funds available, they want the rest.  If available payouts are not enough, they will just take it when that amount is used first.

Another example that I have seen here is if you have a 'return'.  The money is put on hold, but they do NOT use the "held funds" to fund the return.  It will come from your newly acquired available funds instead. If you don't have enough,  well.....

There is likely a place in your seller hub to view this sort of thing, but I agree the message could be a bit more explicit, perhaps even telling you where to look.

Let us know, what you find out.

We cannot possible make a judgement about the quality of the message without seeing the actual message.

To be brutally honest - sellers post here often claiming a message from eBay does not give a reason, but when the actual message from eBay is posted the reason is indeed stated in the message.

Yes I have gotten these messages. It is when your Managed Money account goes into the negative and you have already been paid out. So their is a negative balance that you owe. And if you don’t have any new sales to take it from it will be deducted from your attached bank account. For me I typically have sales to cover it and it is never taken out anyway.
