Ebay has blocked the proceeds from 50+ of my auctions recently. I have gone round and round with them and submitted documents to no avail. Now they have restricted me also. I guess that was to keep me from contacting them. Also to my amazement they will issue a 1099K for all my sales even though I haven't recieved the proceeds. To add insult to injury I will have to pay taxes on revenue never recieved. Has anybody else had similar problems?

Unfortunately, there are numerous similar posts here on a daily basis.  eBay wants some data from you, and they have found that withholding your money is an effective tool to force you to comply. Even when you do, it often does not help, or they ask for more information.   Similar posts have been from new sellers, old tenured sellers. returning sellers, occasional sellers, constant sellers, TRS sellers and regular sellers alike.  One poor guy has been waiting 80 days+ with the constant answer from eBay CS that suggests it will be solved in 48 - 72 hours (code words for NEVER?)

Nobody really knows why some re-verification works, and others get delayed.  Triggers may include an increase in sales, sales in another category, or simply success in general or even one high dollar sale.

If you find out what is up with this, please post back so we can advise others.

What did they ask for, what date did they ask and what date did you conform to their requests?

I just have found out that they consider my joint banking account to be a high risk account. The reason may be that if more than one party is attached to the account they won't know how to attach the 1099k to the right person. There may be other reasons. Also as my account is restricted so I cannot use those accumulated funds to pay for any auctions I may win. This is a nice catch 22 situation. In any case they will report the gross sales to the IRS who will demand an accounting even though income was not actually received.

In any case I  am not changing my checking account. The costs and fees are too high.

The 1099K has nothing to do with your bank account.   If regular outsourced foreign call center reps told you that it is likely mis-information (aka made up lie).

Open a new account at Chime bank for eBay.

Or one with with a local credit union. Use it ONLY for eBay.  Transfer funds out regularly, leaving enough to cover CC chargebacks just in case.

Since the bank account and eBay account need to have identical names I suspect that joint accounts aren’t allowed.

My bank account is joint and I've never had an issue.

I believe that you will get the run around from Ebay idefinitely and I have accepted my loss. The reps (both Calcutta and Manila) give a different story each time. This has the makings of a class action lawsuit which I am sure will happen when you get your 1099K for sales you made but were never paid to you. I will just wait for that.

The point is you will receive a 1099K for your cumulative gross sales for the entire year whether you have received proceeds disbursement or not.

Yes, that is correct and how it should be. It is then YOUR responsibility to open or create a checking account that is acceptable to eBay in order for you to receive those proceeds. That's how it works. You are not forced to sell on here, but you are forced to follow the policies. You wrote above that you are not changing your checking account. So, you know and understand what needs to be done but are refusing to do so. The onus is on you....
