Ebay has blocked the proceeds from 50+ of my auctions recently. I have gone round and round with them and submitted documents to no avail. Now they have restricted me also. I guess that was to keep me from contacting them. Also to my amazement they will issue a 1099K for all my sales even though I haven't recieved the proceeds. To add insult to injury I will have to pay taxes on revenue never recieved. Has anybody else had similar problems?

I still cannot get someone to define a high risk account for me. I only assumed that it had to do with the account being a joint account but several members said they have joint accounts and have no problems. I talked to my bank which is one of the largest in the US and with whom I have been a customer for 53 years. They have no idea what a high risk account is. Simply opening another account may not solve anything as that could also be declared a high risk account. It could be something simple as the rep (Calcutta this time) is merely reading from a prepared list of supposed account problems and really has no idea why the account is restricted. Anyway I know I am going to lose this one. It just takes a little time to sink in and it certainly didn't happen at the best time for me.
Also does anybody know what happens to the impounded funds after they close my account?

I also do not understand what a high-risk account is and wish I could provide an answer for that. You are correct that the phone reps are simply reading from a script and don't have the proper training to resolve these types of issues. You mentioned somewhere that you haven't provided your SSN so that may be part of the issue here.
You can always use social media just to get a correct answer, or better direction to remedy this. You can delete your social media account after you get your answer so it's not permanent.

Impounded funds are sent to your home state eventually, but you have to pursue getting them back. Best to resolve this before it gets to that point.

You ONLY pay taxes if you made a profit. After X months, ebay will send those funds to your state government. Then you will really have a harder time to retrieve them. I don't see what the big deal is about opening a new checking account. There are plenty of banks with checking. Some accounts are free just keeping a 100 minimum. Give ebay the documents that they need. This is done inorder to keep eBay safe. Years ago, you could register your dog or cat to sell on Ebay. Those days are over.
You are NOT going to get any sympathy from any seller here that has already submitted all necessary documents to Ebay. Don't be a moron either and blame the current administration for this 1099 law. That law was passed by Congress under the past administration. But again, you were always supposed to pay taxes on any taxable income. If you did NOT profit from your sales, you report all of your fees/ costs , etc and it will show that you spent more than you made and therefore , you do NOT pay taxes. It's NOT hard.
If you want to get your funds and use them to buy stuff here, get a new checking account. I sell with 2 accounts and I have a free acct. that I use exclusively to receive my ebay funds.

I have queried Facebook/Ebay and they will not answer my question as to what a "high risk account " is on that forum but refer me back to the eBay main website which of course is where I have been all along. I would open another checking account which is a real pain but I would really like to know what a high risk bank account is first so I don't waste my time. Up to Oct. 1 they have been making regular deposits to my account and have continually drawn funds from that account to cover USPS shipping cost so I don't know what could have suddenly happened. I will say that I have had a great time with eBay over the past 23 years and am sorry to see it come to an end.

Just an update. I decided to get another bank account at Wells Fargo as it is free because I am a prime customer. Did so and tried to enter it into eBay system and it was rejected and non verifiable. Talked to 3 different eBay reps and the consensus was that I should open an account at a different institution. So I went to Chase and opened a new account there. Tried to add this account to eBay and it too was rejected and being unverifiable. The next rep tried to do a work around but that did not work. As a last resort I decided to enroll in the account section that allows you to use funds in eBay to pay for purchases. I would rather have the money but that is OK. My attempt to enroll was denied. All of the reps I talk to looked into my account to see if other problems are there and none report any. I believe this as systems they have access to are not posting what the real problem is. Several reps said they have escalated my problems to the "back office" and I should expect an answer in eBay messages in 48 hours and have given me case reference number. Fat chance! I have gotten myself on their S list after 23 years with them and about 10,000 sales. This is just their way of telling me to be gone.

My bank account is joint and I've never had an issue.
Mine is a decades-old personal joint account (BOA) and I've never had problems, either. My name is one of the two on the account, but I'm the only seller on eBay. I think your problem has stumped the panel. Dang...

funds will eventually go to what ever state you are registered in as unclaimed funds.
As for high risk account that can be many things.
But the truth is you are under investigation. Who knows what triggered such.
