Just want to know if any seller has ever ran into this.
I made a sale on 8-22-2020. Item shipped on 8-22-2020. Item was delivered 8-24-2020. Buyer left positive feed back. The Managed Payment pending funds were sent to my bank. All is good-----until today!!
This morning I receive a message from ebay stating: We’re writing to let you know that a payment dispute was filed outside of eBay for an order that was placed by xxxxx on August 22, 2020. This dispute was filed because the buyer had an issue with the transaction payment. The disputed amount is $44.95.
What's ebay going to do?
Any idea what is going on with this satisfied buyer, 31 days after he placed his order??
Thanks in advance for any insight.

So sorry you are having to go through this ordeal. It is exactly this type of scenario that I do not sell anything that is worth that much on eBay. It is almost too easy for dishonest people to steal and get away with it on eBay. And to add insult to injury you no longer have your item and you have no money to show for it.

I have never seen Paypal find in favor on any chargeback if I shipped to the address given. If I followed the rules I was protected. If Ebay does to me I will likely leave.

Exactly right!

Paypal covered me everytime tracking showed delivered so you shouldn't tell me what didn't happen in my reality.

PayPal covered me every time, as well. Several times. I've never paid a penny out of pocket due to a chargeback through PayPal.

Chargebeacks happened a few times with PP over the years and they covered us EVERY SINGLE TIME!

And yet, while we are all adamant about how PayPal handled this and would be quite indigenous if eBay doesn't, here is the reality what eBay actually does even when you provide tracking showing Delivered for an Unauthorized transaction Payment dispute filed against eBay:

This is exactly what I am facing right now - sold a speargun and shipped to Hawaii. was Delivered over a month ago. now a claim outside of ebay (which I have never seen before) I only have one change to post a picture to prove what I shipped. (who takes pics of every item you ship) I have contacted the buyer and they say it was never delivered to their house which they confirm was the right address but said the post office kept it and made them pay $25 to get it. They also claim it arrived broken. But it's been a month since delivered so there is NO WAY the buyer didn't get it and only now says it's broken - of course no refund request through ebay and no pics showing beat up box and broken speargun.
Very disappointed in EBAY if I get robbed $180.

How can this be stopped? It's hard to believe this can happen and eBay lets it happen.

It just happened to me. I sold an item, shipped it to Japan. Buyer didn't read condition description, opened a chargeback/payment dispute, claiming it wasn't as described. Just got the news - they won the dispute, now I'm out $247 plus the $20 ebay fee for this nonsense. I'm trying to see if I have any legal recourse outside of ebay.

Wondering @butterflies62 how many days did eBay give you to respond?
From start of payment dispute,
to the response deadline,
to forced refund?

Problem is with all the new sellers, they are limited on $ amount and or how many items they can list. So loosing old sellers that list at higher $ amounts and number of items, yes I could see that hurting the bottom line. Along with many that don't understand how eBay works and don't stick around long.

Can you share @butterflies62 how many days did eBay give you to respond?
1. From start of payment dispute,
2. to the response deadline,
3. to forced refund?

I had the same problem and EBay sided with the buyer so they refunded them and charged me a $20 dispute fee on top of it 😡 I’m seriously thinking to delete my account / store

I will add my voice to those saying PP covered us every time someone tried a chargeback. 100%, every time.

Serious issues here for sellers under the eBay managed payments. And that $20 fee? Insult to injury.
If they buyer wins the dispute, the seller:
-Loses the item
-Loses the funds from the sale
-Is charged for trying to honestly sort out the issue.
This is absolutely garbage and I'd consider blocking the transaction. Sellers do not deserve to be treated in this way.

I don't think so, you should think twice before doing it.
