Payment changes

How is this mandatory "accepting payments" through our bank accounts and no longer Paypal MORE beneficial to us, as sellers? It seems that there will be more fees to pay and payments for sales will no longer be instant, there will be a waiting period... HOW DO SELLERS BENEFIT FROM THIS CHANGE that is required of us? How is this "better" and "more convenient"? I think that it's more convenient for Ebay, not for the sellers that keep Ebay running.

you got it.

You are assuming that to be true, but it is inaccurate.  Until you are in MP you don't have access to the screens and reports.  But once you are active in MP you will.  It will be in the Seller Hub under the Payment's tab.  Screens and reports to offer you all kinds of information.

Same here no way they get my SS#

@psycheme

I believe I've shared with you that this is no longer accurate.  MP is only requiring the last 4 digits of your SSN.  So you will be just fine.

This link from the payments team supports what I just said.

Re: Payment changes

How long have you been on ebay ? Ive been here since 2000, and have watched this site grow from a simple rummage site t( way better than today) to the premier auction site on planet Earth, to now an Amazon wanna-bee with so many restrictions, that "normal" pickers, sellers, collectors have left by the millions.

For "your" particular needs ebay may be working just fine for you, but for many of us long term ebayers, this site is now a sad parody of a once great franchise.  I am plenty informed and get monthly surveys from ebay asking my opinion, which I stopped doing them as they clearly don't listen.

I am not giving ebay my banking info, nor will I give them access, authority what have you to freeze said acct. They couldn't keep our passwrods safe a few years back, and I should trust them with banking info or report indirectly to the IRS for the chump change I make here today ? I think you are missing the bigger picture.

I ,like millions of others over the past 12 years am leaving as a seller , as the money made here today is beer money compared to what it once was..   Yeah yeah millions of folks are making a living selling the same **bleep** as you can find on Amazon, but with fees being raised again, closed communication, hidden identities, and ebay only letting "Some Sellers" contact buyers and vice versa. I simply can and am doing better elsewhere, so the door won't be hitting me on the A$$ on my way out.

Sure I will browse occasionally but there isn't much holding me here as the collectors in the genres of my interest had for the most part bailed by 2010.

I'm looking forward to some real competition and one that ebay can;t simply write a check and make it go away.

Ebay does NOT have authority to "freeze" your bank account.  They can freeze you Ebay account, but then they have always been able to do that.

They actually DID keep our passwords safe in 2014 when we were hacked.  The hackers were never able to break the Ebay encryption on those passwords, so the security on the site stood up to the danger.

You might want to end your listings before they switch you over and you have no way to be paid

As do I.  It has been just fine.

While I know some sellers wait to ship until the money is in there bank, I'm guessing, but that is likely a minority of the 4+ million sellers currently in MP as long handling times drop sellers in the search returns which can lower the sales rate.

With regard to your banking being frozen, does it not stand to reason that paypal /ebay would freeze your funds if there was an issue  today? That is correct and true, dont think for one minute that ebay is not going to do the same moving forward.

They might freeze the funds in your MP account and if there isn't enough to cover the refund/fee's, yes, they will pull funds from your checking account, but they don't freeze your checking account.

Have a great day.

I spoke to ebay rep and if I do not comply my account will be shut down by ebay. Amazing.

If you're not going to sign up for MP, you won't have a way to be paid, so why keep selling?

Have a great day.

But if enough sellers complain maybe they will keep all accounts open.

Sellers have been complaining for 3 years and nothing has changed.

Have a great day.

Just to clarify.  They CAN'T freeze ANYONE's bank account without a court order.  And if they get a court order, then it is reasonable to assume they have a legal reason to do that.

Re: Payment changes

They want you to believe its good for you. All their doing is stealing more money and forcing us to obey like the rest of the sheep followers that were brain washed into thinking its better. Its NOT better and its NOT easier. Its just a way to steal more money off the little guys.
