I hate managed payments and I want to go back to getting money for my sales via PayPal.
I am not a professional seller. I only need eBay to sell things I no longer need. Now, I have to enter my Social Security Number to verify my bank, which is absolutely ridiculous. Why would I give my SSN to a ecommerce website? To make matters worse the fees have actually gone UP! I just sold a pair of headphones for $65 and the fee collected was $8.33 or 12.8%, more expensive than it used to be. Why change something when there was nothing wrong in the first place?
Is there a way to opt out of managed payments and only accept PayPal?

I just called and asked the rep to submit the form to opt out, which the rep did. This was the 3rd time that I had called but the first time that I specifically asked for the form. The previous two times, no one mentioned a form to me. I was told that the request may not be approved.
Are you located in the US? The rep told me that in certain cases, like selling coin & bullion or foreign sellers who don't have a SSN, the requests are approved. Otherwise, my request may be denied. I'll follow up with my experience.

Except that MP now allows Coins and paper money, so that reason would go away.

You are sidestepping the question. We all realize that sellers now are forced to use MP because ebay says so. The question was "Why can they accept Pay-pal and we can't?" (meaning, why can ebay use PayPal to receive their money but ebay sellers can not receive money via PayPal?) You simply stating that "MP is the money processing program for sellers." is NOT an answer.

originalapplecountry, DON'T tell mam98031 the info requested! It is only information she will use to attempt to close the loop hole. Besides that, what possible difference can this make?
"When were you told [received an email] you had to enter MP, by what date?"
Are we to believe that for some sellers, based on some magic date, switching to MP is optional? Or more accurately, opting out of MP is optional?

I didn't "sidestep" anything. We each have a choice to make for what is best for each of us. Yes Ebay is making MP mandatory for all sellers just as other sites have their mandatory money processing programs. Ebay is the last of the bigger sites to implement this, certainly not the first. So we each can choose to stay or go, whatever is best for you is the right answer to the question.
What I just posted answers you questions about PP. Buyers will be able to continue to use PP if they want to but sellers sadly won't because we are all being moved into MP.

@kamry1234 wrote:WOW! You are dense! Do you really not understand what people are having an issue with here? We are pointed out the hypocrisy on behalf of ebay being willing to accept PayPal for incoming revenue but not allowing sellers to do the same. Your insistence to sidestep the question and regurgitate conditioned responses leads me to believe you have missed your true calling. You could have had a brilliant career in politics.
I get it, we have all had a pretty rough year between the pandemic and now the big changes on Ebay. However that doesn't excuse being rude. I know some feel that anyone that doesn't agree with their point of view has to be wrong. But calling people names or trying to stir up a conflict where none is needed is very juvenile to say the least.

You may want to revisit my posts as you are misrepresenting what they said. It isn't complicate. It is very simple. Many of us may not like it, but it isn't complicated.
When Ebay notifies a seller it is time to move into MP. That seller is given a date in that email in which they will become active in MP and therefore they have a choice to make. If the seller wants to continue to sell on Ebay then it is in their best interest to register before the date they become active in MP [the sooner the better as they need time to process your registration info].
Or if you do not want to go into MP and therefore will no longer be selling on Ebay, end you listings before the activation date. If you don't do that and you don't register, any sale you get will have your money hung up in MP until you do register.
I never said anyone has the ability to opt out of MP. I know of no such option.

Buyers can still use Pay Pal.
Pay Pal will no longer be processing the payments, Adyen will and they can't send the funds to your Pay Pal account, that's why you need a checking account.

YES, it is for ALL sellers.
Keep in mind your definition of your transaction may not be the same definition IRS has. So make sure you are working within the Federal rules.
