No longer able to select specific card for purchase?

When making an offer, using the buy it now, and even some auctions I've lost the ability to select what card I want to charge through PayPal...   Sometimes when I check out with my cart the PayPal window opens and I can select one of my various saved payment methods...  If I put an offer in I could select PayPal and hit submit...  Is there a setting that can be changed to get this back? 

To be clear I'm able to pick one of a few payment options like PayPal a credit card or a bank account but it used to be that if I chose PayPal it would load my entire PayPal wallet and I can select an individually saved method through them...  Now it just charges one of them randomly does anyone know why? I have to assume this is an eBay issue because other websites when I check out with PayPal it always prompts me for what card or account I would like to charge. 

This is a huge issue for me because I purchased items for multiple people and I have their cards authorized on my PayPal account so that I can get parts shipped in without having to worry about payment and then I just issue an invoice later for labor.

Not sure about offers, specifically, but I noticed that lately when checking out on eBay using PayPal, I was no longer getting the option to choose a payment method through my PayPal wallet -- a default payment method was being chosen automatically. I was able to specify a different payment source in my PayPal account for future purchases under Manage Automatic Payments for eBay, but I lost the ability to pick the payment method on-the-fly when checking out.

I was able to get the option to choose payment through my PayPal wallet at eBay checkout back by deleting the PayPal entry from my eBay Payments page.

Now when checking out on eBay and choosing PayPal, I am sent to my PayPal wallet page where I can choose a payment method -- including the split payment or pay-in-4 options.

**bleep**... Paypal option isn't even using my preferred method in paypal... it keeps defaulting to an old one - this is a software bug.

I'm experiencing the same thing: when completing an eBay purchase, I can no longer select and specify which PayPal card I would like to use.

Have you tried deleting the PayPal entry on your eBay payments page?

Same thing happened to me the last 2 days. I used to be able to decide which payment or pay in 4. Deleted cookies today and still went to default.

They probably introduced this on purpose as another "convenience" feature that will do nothing but frustrate people but they won't change it back for any reason, no matter how many complaints it generates.

Thanks so much for sharing this, as it worked perfectly and now I'm able to choose which credit card to use when purchasing at eBay.

I read it was because some people don't pay what they owe immediately. So the solution is make the people who do pay guilty too

I had to do this, too.  Thank you for posting a solution.  I couldn't understand because sometimes it would just charge whatever, and sometimes it would take me to PP to select a payment method.  Depending upon the purchase, I want to pay with various methods.  Not sure why this should be difficult for ebay to understand, but ebay often has the government "what are you gonna do about it?" attitude.  Every other merchant on the web takes me to PP to *select* my payment method and this should be standard operating practice (SOP)

There is no good reason to use PayPal to pay by credit cards, and no reason for Ebay to share any of their profit with PayPal a middleman. Expect the PayPal payment methods to disappear, just like Amex. But unlike Amex, this will be a slow and excruciating process.

Looks like removing the saved PayPal payment methods in eBay's wallet did the trick. It now no longer shows "PayPal (******@*******.***)" next to it, and now it just shows a "PayPal" payment option to choose from. The option is still there to chose, but without my email address being assigned to it. I think that's the change they made. I don't know why they did that, especially without telling us or giving us the option.

Same thing with me . I even stopped using Ebay . I used to spend over 10k a year . Now i'm down to $120 so far this year . I'd probably would have spent 5k or more by now . Ebay use to be an awesome place to buy and sell 15 /20 years ago . That's over now .
