There are reports in this forum of people having issues paying with vanilla gift cards. 
Use another form of payment.

There was an enlightening post in July. The poster said when their Vanilla card was declined they called Secure Spend  Prepaid VISA and was told they flagged eBay, thus payments are blocked by VISA. 

I would think it would be eBay or ADYEN blocking them due to card theft.

If your Vanilla VISA card won't work it makes no sense for you to buy a Vanilla Mastercard.  

Vanilla cards are not being accepted.

eBay gift cards are accepted but if you don't  want to buy one then that's entirely up to you. 

If you committed to buy the item and you don't  pay for it by 4 days then you will get an unpaid item strike. 

If you're okay with getting a strike then go for it.
